The Electoral Registry and Political Party Financing published in La Gaceta No. 185 on Thursday, October 1, 2026, the notice announcing that Ms. Melissa Cambronero Méndez requested the registration of the cantonal party Por Turrialba, with the acronym PPT. The notice, signed by the general director Héctor Fernández Masís on September 8, 2026, describes the emblem of the new movement and warns interested parties to present objections within fifteen calendar days.
The process and its documentary support
The request is processed in accordance with the provisions of Article 62 of the Electoral Code and corresponds to a grouping on a cantonal scale, meaning it has exclusive scope in the canton of Turrialba, in the province of Cartago.
Along with the petition, the president of the Provisional Executive Committee provided the notarization of the minutes of the assemblies that gave rise to the party:
- Constitutive assembly, held on March 1, 2026.
- Superior assembly of June 22, 2026.
- Superior assembly of August 31, 2026.
The file also incorporates the Party Statute, whose Article 2 contains the official description of the emblem.
The emblem: blue, yellow, and the canton
According to the Statute, the emblem will be a rectangular blue flag with a yellow circle containing, in yellow, the letters PPT and the phrase “Por Turrialba” in blue. The notice details the symbolism of each element:
- Blue represents trust, stability, responsibility, and institutional commitment, and symbolizes serious and orderly governability.
- Yellow represents energy, hope, optimism, and dynamism, and communicates closeness and a positive attitude toward development.
- The circle enclosing the acronym symbolizes cantonal cohesion, the inclusion of all districts, and the protection and integral vision of the territory.
The publication also sets the technical specifications of the graphic identity. The institutional blue corresponds to Cyan 98%, Magenta 69%, Yellow 0%, and Black 31% in CMYK, and to 3, 55, and 175 in RGB format; the institutional yellow corresponds to Cyan 0%, Magenta 20%, Yellow 93%, and Black 1%, and to 253, 203, and 17 in RGB. The acronym PPT must use extra bold, condensed, and slightly slanted sans serif typography, in uppercase and in yellow, with a size between 280 and 320 points; the text “Por Turrialba” in bold italic sans serif typography in blue, from 70 to 85 points.
Deadline to present objections
The notice warns those who have an interest to make any objections they deem pertinent within the term of fifteen calendar days starting from the last publication. The notice itself is published for five days, so the deadline runs from the final insertion.
The document is signed in San José on September 8, 2026, by Héctor Fernández Masís, General Director of the Electoral Registry and Political Party Financing, and is published under the official reference IN202601126377, exempt from payment.
Impact on the cantonal political offering
Should the registration succeed, Por Turrialba would join the political offering of the canton of Turrialba with a strictly cantonal-scale grouping, its own graphic identity, and a discourse centered on the cohesion of the districts and an integral vision of the territory. The objection period also opens a formal window for other organizations or citizens to question compliance with the requirements of the Electoral Code before the Supreme Electoral Tribunal rules on the merits of the application.
