Intellectual Property Registry registers the TUCAN trademark and other notices

The Intellectual Property Registry of Nicaragua reports, in accordance with Article 19 of Law 380, Law on Trademarks and Other Distinctive Signs, the registration of the manufacturing and trade mark TUCAN Y DISEÑO and the publication of several trademark application notices, in the Tuesday, September 8, 2026 edition of La Gaceta — Official Gazette, number 167, page 9052.

The registration and notices correspond to the Manufacturing, Trade, and Service Marks section of the Registry, and establish an opposition period of 15 business days starting from the delivery of each notice, as provided by the current regulations on distinctive signs.

Registration of the TUCAN mark

The Registry registered the mark TUCAN Y DISEÑO, in classes 2, 16, and 28 of the International Classification, in favor of Productos Tucan de Nicaragua, Sociedad Anónima, under number 2026149296, folio 78, volume 499 of the Registration Book for the year 2026, valid until the year 2036. The file corresponds to Exp. 2026-000200 and is registered under reference Reg. 2026-M3045.

Trademark application notices

Along with the registration, the Registry publishes several trademark application notices, each with its own opposition period:

  • URBINA Y COMPAÑÍA LIMITADA (Nicaragua), proxy José Luis Mejía Pérez: trade mark, class 5, for insecticides; file 2026-001963, filed on July 1, 2026 (Reg. 2026-M3046).
  • FINANCIERA FUNDESER, S.A. (Nicaragua), proxy Olga Vanessa Bustos Bravo: service mark, class 36, for financing services for micro, medium, and small enterprises; file 2025-002670 (Reg. 2026-M3060).
  • TQ BRANDS S.A. (Panama), proxy Marina Betania Bojorge Rivera: manufacturing and trade mark, class 5, for ophthalmic medication; file 2026-001966, filed on July 1, 2026 (Reg. 2026-M3061).
  • PROTEINAS DE NICARAGUA S.A., proxy José Antonio Mena Hanon: two manufacturing and trade marks, class 30, for coffee, tea, cocoa, and coffee substitutes; files 2025-002670 and 2025-002671 (Reg. 2026-M3062 and Reg. 2026-M3063).

Opposition period

Each notice indicates that it has a validity of 15 business days starting from its delivery, after which interested parties may file an opposition with the Registry. The notices were issued in Managua between September 8, 2025, and August 18, 2026, and are signed by the registrar Mario A. Jiménez Pichardo.

The publication of these registrations and applications allows third parties to exercise their right of opposition and ensures the transparency of the intellectual property system in Nicaragua, protecting both trademark holders and consumers against potential confusion in the market.
