Registrar strikes off six companies and opens 90-day objection window

The Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms has struck off three companies from its register and dissolved them, and has given three others 90 days to show cause why they should not meet the same fate. The six notices were published in the Bangladesh Gazette of 24 September 2026, sixth volume, Part I, under section 346 of the Companies Act 1994.

The Office of the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms is the statutory body that maintains the register of companies in Bangladesh. Section 346 of the Companies Act 1994 empowers the Registrar to remove defunct companies from that register: sub-section (5) covers companies whose names are struck off and which are dissolved on publication, while sub-section (3) is the show-cause route, under which the Registrar must publish a notice inviting cause against removal within 90 days.

Each notice carries its own official reference and the company’s registration number, and each preserves existing liabilities: any unpaid dues owed by a director or a member survive the striking-off and remain payable.

Three companies struck off and dissolved

For these three, the gazette states that the company name has been struck off the register of joint stock companies and firms and that the company is dissolved with immediate effect from the publication of the notice.

Three more face a 90-day objection window

These notices ask whether the companies are carrying on business or have operations in progress. If no cause is shown within 90 days of publication, the name will be struck off the register and the company dissolved.

Where the notices appear

The notices are carried in the notices section of Part I of the gazette, on page 1201, alongside other statutory announcements of the same issue. Objections and causes must be addressed to the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms, whose office issued each of the six references.

The six notices show the Registrar using section 346 to clear dormant names from the register, a routine but consequential housekeeping power. For creditors the practical effect is a deadline: claims against the three show-cause companies must be raised within 90 days of publication, while the directors and members of the three dissolved companies remain liable for any unpaid dues.
