Red Eléctrica eleva a 225.000 euros su aportación al compensador de Brovales

The Plenary of the City Council of Jerez de los Caballeros approved in an ordinary session on September 30, 2026, the modification of the collaboration agreement maintained with Red Eléctrica de España SA for the execution of the synchronous condenser project at the Brovales substation. The operation increases the contribution committed by the electric company from the initial 120,000.00 euros to 225,000.00 euros. The agreement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz No. 192, corresponding to Wednesday, October 7, 2026, under Announcement 3936/2026.

The plenary agreement and the new contribution

The approved text modifies the agreement signed between both parties and increases the amount that Red Eléctrica commits to contribute to the project. According to the official announcement, the figure increases from 120,000.00 euros to 225,000.00 euros, representing an increase of 105,000 euros over the previous commitment.

The purpose of the agreement is the installation of a synchronous condenser at the Brovales substation, an infrastructure associated with the electricity transmission network. The agreement appears digitally signed by the mayor, Raúl Gordillo Barroso.

Background: the agreement approved in August

The modification now published gives continuity to the collaboration agreement that the same Plenary approved in an ordinary session on August 3, 2026. That definitive text, processed between the City Council of Jerez de los Caballeros and Red Eléctrica de España SAU, referred to the execution of the Brovales 400 kV synchronous condenser project and was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz No. 155, of August 14, 2026, via Announcement 3236/2026.

  • Approving body: Plenary of the City Council of Jerez de los Caballeros.
  • Modification approval session: September 30, 2026.
  • Initial agreement approval session: August 3, 2026.
  • Collaborating company: Red Eléctrica de España SA (referred to as SAU in the August announcement).
  • Previous contribution: 120,000.00 euros.
  • Modified contribution: 225,000.00 euros.
  • Infrastructure: synchronous condenser at the Brovales substation (400 kV).

Publicity, transparency, and means of appeal

The announcement indicates that the agreement is published for general knowledge and that the text is available to interested parties at the City Council’s electronic office. The document also reminds that the agreement concludes the administrative process.

Against the agreement, an optional appeal for reversal may be filed before the body that issued the act, within one month from the day following the receipt of the notification, in accordance with articles 123 and 124 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.

An administrative appeal may also be filed directly before the Administrative Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Extremadura within two months, pursuant to Article 46 of Law 29/1998, of July 13, regulating Contentious-Administrative Jurisdiction. The filing of a motion for reconsideration prevents recourse to the contentious-administrative route until the former is resolved or dismissed by silence.

Impact for the area

The synchronous compensator of Brovales is part of the electrical grid equipment of the region, and its execution depends on the economic collaboration between the city council and the transmission system operator. The increase in the contribution from Red Eléctrica strengthens the project’s financing and reduces the burden that the agreement could impose on municipal coffers.

For the residents of Jerez de los Caballeros and its surroundings, the publication of Announcement 3936/2026 confirms that the modification is now final in the administrative process and that the infrastructure is moving forward with greater economic backing than initially planned.
