The Official Gazette of the Canary Islands number 176, dated September 2, 2026, publishes the announcement making public the Agreement of August 21, 2026, which orders the dissemination of the Cooperation Agreement between Radio Pública de Canarias, S.A. and the Theros Association for Musical Outreach for the promotion of the cultural activity of the Gran Canaria Community Orchestra. The agreement was signed in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on August 19, 2026, and appears in section V of Announcements, within the other announcements section of Radiotelevisión Canaria.
The publication is carried out in compliance with Article 20 of Decree 11/2019, of February 11, which requires regional public sector bodies to publish their agreements in the official gazette within twenty days of their signing. The agreement is framed within the mission of RPC to manage the public audiovisual communication service of the Canary Islands, in accordance with Law 6/2026, of July 24, and to support content that promotes culture, territorial cohesion, and Canarian identity.
An agreement for three annual concerts
The agreement articulates the collaboration between both entities for the dissemination of the three annual concerts offered by the Gran Canaria Community Orchestra and its choir, a project in which musicians from several islands of the archipelago participate. The scheduled dates are:
- Sunday, November 15, 2026.
- Sunday, March 14, 2027.
- Sunday, June 20, 2027.
Dissemination commitments and considerations
For its part, RPC assumes the broadcasting of twenty-second promotional spots, which will begin fifteen days before each event and conclude on the day of its completion, as well as special news coverage of the programming according to the network’s availability. The Theros Association is obliged to include the RPC logo on posters and promotional material, and to pay the public radio the equivalent of 40% of the total cost if it were to contract promotions with other regional, provincial, or local television operators in the Canary Islands.
Oversight and validity
To ensure balance between the parties, a Monitoring and Control Commission of equal composition is created, integrated by Daida Rodríguez, Director of Institutional Relations of RPC, and José Agustín Hernández Ojeda, Head of Institutional Relations of the Community Orchestra. The agreement, which requires no financial contribution from either party, has a validity extending from its signing until June 20, 2027, and may be terminated due to breach of contract, mutual agreement, or a decision by RPC based on programming or financial needs.
The agreement reinforces the role of public radio as a megaphone for Canarian cultural creation and guarantees the regional projection of an orchestra that brings together musicians from several islands, consolidating the dissemination of grassroots musical activity in the archipelago.
