Rabós obre la convocatòria per proveir la plaça vacant de jutge de pau

The City Council of Rabós has announced the public call for the filling of the vacant position of Justice of the Peace of the municipality. The edict, signed by Mayor Maria Teresa Ginjaume Camps, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Girona number 193, corresponding to October 7, 2026, with the official reference BOP-2026_0_193_8501 (edict 8501, p. 1). Interested parties have a one-month deadline to submit their application.

The call is based on Article 102 of the Organic Law of the Judiciary and Article 5.1 of Regulation no. 3/1995, of June 7, on Justices of the Peace, which is the regulation governing the selection and appointment of these positions throughout the State. The municipal text states that the position is vacant and that, therefore, the procedure must be initiated so that the Plenary of the corporation can propose the person to occupy it.

A one-month deadline and submission to the municipal registry

The deadline is one month starting from the publication of the announcement in the provincial gazette. Applications must be addressed to the General Registry of the Rabós City Council, which is the authorized body to receive them.

The requirements that applicants must meet are as follows:

  • Meet the conditions established in Article 102 of the Organic Law of the Judiciary.
  • Submit the application within the one-month deadline from the publication of the edict.
  • Formalize the request before the General Registry of the Rabós City Council.

The edict reminds that the publication is made “for the appropriate purposes” and that the procedure conforms to what is determined by Regulation no. 3/1995, approved more than three decades ago and still in force for the filling of these positions.

The appointment framework: Governing Chamber and four-year term

Justices of the Peace are not elected directly by the City Council; instead, the municipal Plenary proposes the candidates and the appointment corresponds to the Governing Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Catalonia. This is recorded in the appointment edict published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Girona number 163, of August 25, 2026 (BOP-2026_0_163_7505), which details the procedure for several municipalities in Girona.

According to this same text, Justices of the Peace must take office within twenty calendar days following the publication of the appointment in the official gazette, with a prior oath or promise before the judge of first instance and instruction of the district. The duration of the mandate is four years and is calculated from the publication of the appointment.

A procedure repeated across the district

The call for applications in Rabós joins other similar processes opened this autumn in the province of Girona. On September 14, 2026, the call for the election of a titular and substitute justice of the peace for Sant Julià de Ramis (BOP-2026_0_176_7868) was published, and on September 21, the procedures for the same position in Vilallonga de Ter began.

In all cases, these are honorary and unpaid positions, designed to bring the administration of justice closer to small municipalities and to resolve minor claims, conciliations, and delegated civil registry functions.

The Rabós edict was electronically signed by the mayor on September 29, 2026, and includes the validation code 3HCKJGRLW7EKWAFFG9CL4DQ4N, verifiable through the council’s electronic administration portal.

The call is relevant for the residents of Rabós, who will see a key position filled for the daily operation of local justice, and for lawyers and legal professionals interested in assuming a grassroots role in the municipality. The one-month deadline begins from the publication of the announcement, meaning that anyone who meets the legal requirements is still in time to submit their candidacy to the municipal registry.
