Røros sets school calendar for the 2027/2028 academic year

Røros kommunestyre has fixed the school and holiday calendar for all primary school pupils in the municipality for the 2027/2028 academic year. The decision was adopted on 18 June 2026 and published in Norsk Lovtidend (Avd. II) on 20 August 2026 under reference 18.06.2026 nr. 1646.
The regulation, titled “Forskrift om skolerute 2027/2028, Rossen tjïelte, Trööndelage / Røros kommune, Trøndelag”, is issued under section 14-1 of the Education Act (lov 9. juni 2023 nr. 30 om grunnskoleopplæringa og den vidaregåande opplæringa). It applies to every pupil at all primary schools in Røros kommune and sets out both the school days and the days on which pupils are free.
School days and holidays
The calendar runs from the first school day on Thursday 19 August 2027 through the last school day on Thursday 22 June 2028. Pupils have both the right and the duty to attend school on the fixed school days.
- Autumn holiday: 11–15 October 2027
- Winter holiday: 28 February–3 March 2028
- Easter (“den stille uke”): 10–14 April 2028, with 2. påskedag free on Monday 17 April
- Christmas break: last school day before Christmas on Wednesday 22 December 2027, resuming Monday 3 January 2028
Planning days and public holidays
Several days are set aside for staff planning and study, alongside the statutory public holidays.

- Free day: Friday 25 February 2028
- Labour Day: Monday 1 May 2028
- Constitution Day: Wednesday 17 May 2028
- Ascension Day: Thursday 25 May and Friday 26 May 2028
- Whit Monday: Monday 5 June 2028
Local flexibility and entry into force
Under section 3, individual schools may deviate from the fixed calendar in special cases, for example for school trips. The regulation enters into force on 1 August 2027 and lapses on 31 July 2028.
The publication gives families in Røros a full year of advance notice to plan holidays, childcare and travel around the confirmed school and holiday days for the 2027/2028 academic year.
