Quintanilla San García rectifies an error in its 2026 budget

The City Council of Quintanilla San García has requested the rectification of a transcription error detected in the publication of its municipal budget for the 2026 fiscal year, which appeared in the Official Gazette of the Province of Burgos no. 24, dated Thursday, February 5, 2026. The request, signed by the secretary-auditor Beatriz Miguel Díez at the direction of the mayor-president Juan Miguel Busto González, was made public in gazette no. 161, dated Wednesday, August 26, 2026, with reference BOPBUR-2026-03595.

The error affects the section “A.1) Current operations” of the income statement, which was published with an amount of 729,295.59 euros when the original document submitted by the local entity sets the correct figure at 429,295.59 euros. The city council emphasizes that this is a simple composition error of the announcement, not attributable to the documentation provided by the corporation.

Origin of the budget and detection of the flaw

The general budget of the municipality for 2026 was definitively approved by resolution of the Mayor’s Office dated January 23, 2026, and its edict was sent to the provincial gazette for its mandatory publication. Once the announcement was published in issue number 24 of the gazette, a comparison with the original document submitted by the city council revealed the discrepancy in the income statement.

According to the writing, there is no discrepancy whatsoever between both documents in the expenditure statement. In contrast, in the income statement, only the current operations section appears altered, while the rest of the amounts in the table and the general total, which amounts to 466,862.75 euros, remain correct and unaltered.

Request for rectification without cost

The city council, which is processing the matter under municipal file 46/2025, requests that the rectification be carried out without additional cost to the local entity, as it is an error not attributable to the corporation. It also requests to be notified of the scheduled publication date of the correction and the announcement number assigned to it.

The document, dated in Quintanilla San García on August 14, 2026, attaches a copy of the original 2026 municipal budget document submitted to the department and a copy of the announcement published in gazette no. 24, dated February 5, 2026.

The correction is relevant for municipal transparency and accountability, as an erroneous amount in the revenue statement could distort the reading of the municipality’s public accounts. With this rectification, the city council ensures that the published figure matches the one approved and submitted, preserving the reliability of the economic information provided to the residents.
