Puerto del Rosario revisa las tarifas de la tasa de basura

The Puerto del Rosario City Council has initially approved the modification of the rates for the tax on the provision of urban solid waste collection services, which establishes fixed and variable fees based on the surface area and the type of dwelling or activity. The agreement was adopted by the Plenary in an ordinary session on October 26, 2026, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas, number 133, dated November 6, 2026 (announcement 3.015, reference 2.256.094). The amounts are now subject to a minimum public information period of thirty business days.

The announcement, signed by the Mayor-President Cristóbal de Vera Cabrera on November 4, 2026, incorporates the revised rates as an annex to the Regulatory Ordinance of the Tax for the Provision of Urban Solid Waste Collection Services. The Plenary agreed to the initial approval and, in accordance with Article 49 of Law 7/1985, of April 2, Regulating the Bases of the Local Regime, to open the process for claims and suggestions.

The new rate schedule is organized into eight headings and breaks down each bill into a variable fee and a fixed fee, the sum of which constitutes the annual tax. The structure distinguishes between dwellings, tourist accommodations and collective centers, food establishments, catering, industries, offices, garages, and premises without economic activity.

Dwellings: between 32.84 and 149.46 euros per year

Dwellings with daily collection will pay a fixed fee of 89.48 euros plus a variable fee that scales with square meters: 41.53 euros up to 50 m², 46.15 between 51 and 100 m², 50.76 between 101 and 150 m², 55.37 between 151 and 200 m², and 59.98 above 200 m². The resulting annual tax ranges from 131.01 to 149.46 euros.

  • Alternate collection: fixed fee of 68.17 euros and variable fee from 34.60 to 50.76 euros, with an annual tax of 102.78 to 118.93 euros.
  • Dwellings with distant containers: fixed fee of 21.30 euros and variable fee of 11.53 euros, i.e., 32.84 euros annually for all surface areas.

Commerce and catering, the highest bills

Catering establishments, cafes, and bars bear the highest fees, with an annual tax of 782.34 euros up to 50 m² and up to 1,369.10 euros above 200 m². Food establishments, supermarkets, and wholesale warehouses range between 681.46 and 1,192.56 euros.

  • Industries and other commercial establishments: from 323.91 to 566.86 euros.
  • Offices, professional practices, and medical clinics: from 242.94 to 425.14 euros.
  • Garages for transport companies, rentals, and vehicle showrooms: from 323.91 to 971.75 euros.
  • Premises or warehouses not associated with economic activity: from 80.98 to 101.22 euros.

In tourist accommodations and collective centers, the variable fee is 50.44 euros. The fixed fee is set at 513.32 euros for hotels, apartment complexes, hostels, residences and senior centers, nurseries, schools, and academies; and at 128.33 euros for vacation homes, rural houses, and tourist apartments, cases in which the published annex does not close the annual amount.

Thirty business days for allegations and a 50% discount

The agreement submits the text for public information starting the day following the publication of the announcements in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas, the municipal Notice Board, and the website www.puertodelrosario.org, using the last of the insertions as a reference. If no claim or suggestion is presented, the modification will be definitively adopted and published in full in accordance with article 70.2 of Law 7/1985.

The Plenary also modified article 6.3 of the ordinance to recognize a 50% discount for economic activities that hire specialized co-managers for the door-to-door collection of their specialized waste:

  • Oils.
  • Metal.
  • Paint.
  • Wood.
  • Cardboard.

The agreement is transferred to the departments of Economy and Finance and to the departments of Secretariat, Treasury, and Municipal Audit, and its publication in the provincial gazette and in a wider-circulation newspaper in the province is ordered.

Impact on the neighborhood bill

The revision affects all bills in the municipality, from homes to small businesses, and introduces for the first time a scheme that separates fixed and variable fees in practically all categories. For a home with daily collection, the annual fee fluctuates within a range of barely 18 euros between the smallest property and the one with the largest area, while the difference by type of collection exceeds 28 euros. In the business sector, the gap between a premises without activity and a restaurant of more than 200 m² is multiplied by more than thirteen. The allegations period is the last opportunity for residents and companies to modify amounts that will be applied to the garbage bill.
