Puente Genil initially approves the 2026 General Budget

Por FactBox Admin

The Plenary of the Puente Genil City Council, at an extraordinary session held on 11 August 2026, initially approved the entity’s General Budget for financial year 2026. The agreement is published in the Official Bulletin of the Province of Córdoba number 155, of 12 August 2026 (reference BOP-A-2026-2865), and opens a fifteen-working-day period of public inspection for objections.

The approved budget is not limited to the accounts of the City Council itself: it also includes the budget of the autonomous body Fundación Juan Rejano and the forecast statements of expenditure and revenue of the two commercial companies with wholly municipal capital, together with their annexes, their implementing bases, and the City Council’s 2026 staffing table for civil-service, labour and temporary staff.

The procedure complies with Article 169.1 of the Consolidated Text of the Law Regulating Local Finances, approved by Royal Legislative Decree 2/2004, of 5 March, and with Article 20 of Royal Decree 500/1990, of 20 April. The notice, included in the Local Administration section of the bulletin (page 12283), is signed by the Mayor-President, Sergio María Velasco Albalá.

What the 2026 General Budget includes

The General Budget for financial year 2026 groups together the accounts of the City Council and all entities dependent on it, as required by local finance regulations to provide a consolidated view of municipal expenditure. The following documents are available for public inspection:

  • General budget of the Puente Genil City Council, with its annexes and implementing bases.
  • Budget of the autonomous body Fundación Juan Rejano.
  • Forecast statements of expenditure and revenue of EGEMASA (Environmental Services and Management Company of Puente Genil SA).
  • Forecast statements of SODEPO (Puente Genil Development Company SL).
  • Staffing table of the City Council’s civil-service, labour and temporary staff for 2026.

Fifteen days of public inspection

In accordance with Article 169.1 of the Consolidated Text of the Law Regulating Local Finances, the file is available for public inspection for fifteen working days, counted from the day following the publication of the notice in the provincial bulletin. Since it was published on 12 August, the period begins on 13 August 2026.

During this period, the file may be examined at the Municipal Comptroller’s Office and, in accordance with Article 7(e) of Law 19/2013, of 9 December, on Transparency, Access to Public Information and Good Governance, also electronically at the address https://transparencia.puentegenil.es/publicidad-activa/.

Interested parties referred to in article 170.1 of the Consolidated Text may submit to the Plenary any claims they deem appropriate, exclusively on the grounds listed in section 2 of the same article.

Towards final approval

The regulations establish an automatic outcome for this procedure: if no claims are submitted during the exposure period, the General Budget will be considered definitively approved, without the need for a new plenary agreement. Otherwise, the Plenary will have one month to resolve the claims submitted.

The agreement was signed in Puente Genil on 11 August 2026 by the mayor, Sergio María Velasco Albalá, with an electronic signature registered on 12 August.

The initial approval of the budget is the first step in setting the municipality’s expenditure and revenue for fiscal year 2026, including the municipal staffing establishment, and determines the margin for action of local policies during the year. Citizen participation in the objections procedure is also the last opportunity for affected residents and entities to review accounts that will shape the activity of services such as those provided by EGEMASA and SODEPO.
