Por FactBox Admin

The City Council of Puebla de la Reina has definitively approved the municipality’s Peri-urban Forest Fire Prevention Plan, an instrument drafted with the technical assistance of the Provincial Council of Badajoz. The decision is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz number 166, dated August 31, 2026, via announcement 3411/2026, for the general knowledge of residents and property owners in the area.

The Plenary Council, in an extraordinary session held on June 2, 2026, gave provisional approval to the Plan, which has been processed in accordance with regional fire prevention regulations. The file was subject to public consultation for thirty business days without any allegations, claims, or observations being presented, which has allowed the procedure to be closed with its definitive approval.

Regulatory Framework

The Plan has been developed and processed in accordance with the legal framework for the prevention and fight against forest fires in Extremadura. The supporting regulations are:

  • Law 5/2004, of June 24, on the prevention and fight against forest fires in Extremadura.
  • Decree 260/2014, of December 2, regulating the prevention of forest fires in the Autonomous Community of Extremadura.
  • Order of October 24, 2016, Technical aspects of the Forest Fire Prevention Plan in the Autonomous Community of Extremadura.

Processing and Public Information

The file was submitted for public information via an announcement published on June 8, 2026, in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz number 107, as well as on the notice board and the electronic headquarters of the City Council, for a period of thirty business days. During that period, no allegations, claims, or observations were recorded, therefore proceeding to the publication of the definitive approval announcement.

Appeals and Signature

Against the agreement, which ends the administrative route, interested parties may file:

  • An appeal for reversal (recurso de reposición) before the same body that issued it, within one month from the day following publication, in accordance with articles 123 and 124 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure.
  • A contentious-administrative appeal before the Contentious-Administrative Section of the Court of First Instance of Mérida, within two months, according to articles 8, 25, and 46 of Law 29/1998, of July 13, regulating the Contentious-Administrative Jurisdiction.

The announcement is signed by the Mayor-President, Ana M.ª Redondo Villar.

Relevance for the area

The final approval of the Peri-urban Plan reinforces the protection of the urban-forest interface of Puebla de la Reina, a municipality in the Tierra de Barros region, and provides legal certainty to fire prevention measures. For owners and residents, the document defines the obligations and prevention actions in the surroundings of the urban center, a key step in reducing the risk of fires in an area of marked rural and forest character.
