Priego announces the trovo contest for the 2026 Feria Real

The City Council of Priego de Córdoba has published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Córdoba the summary of the call for the XLIX Edition of the Feria Real 2026 Trovo Contest, a competition that distributes 1,650 euros in prizes and will be held on September 5 starting at 10:00 PM at the «La Alegría» Dance Tent of the Feria Real. The call, identified by number BDNS 926685, is published in accordance with articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of the General Subsidies Law 38/2003, of November 17.

Purpose and Beneficiaries

The contest is called under a competitive bidding process with the aim of preserving, disseminating, and promoting the trovo as an expression of popular culture and oral improvisation. Natural persons who are knowledgeable about or fond of the world of trovos may participate, without requirements for registration (empadronamiento) or residency, provided they complete their registration and fully accept the rules.

• No registration or residency is required to participate.
• Minors must present authorization from their legal representative.
• Persons subject to the prohibitions of article 13 of Law 38/2003 are excluded.

Amount and Prizes

The maximum total amount of the call amounts to 1,650.00 euros, charged to the budgetary application 504-33800-48100 «Contests and prizes» of the 2026 Municipal Budget. The amounts are gross and are subject to the corresponding tax withholdings.

• First prize: 500.00 euros.
• Second prize: 410.00 euros.
• Third prize: 290.00 euros.
• Fourth prize: 170.00 euros.
• Up to four honorable mentions (accésits) of 70.00 euros each.

Deadline and Method of Registration

The period for submitting applications will begin the day following the publication of the summary in the gazette and will end at 2:00 PM on September 4, 2026. Applications may be submitted through the General Electronic Registry of the City Council or at any of the locations provided for in article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, of October 1.

If there are remaining vacancies, applications may be submitted in person at the registration point enabled at the venue on September 5, between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. The maximum number of participants will be eight; if the number of valid applications exceeds this figure, places will be assigned in chronological order of entry, and the remaining applicants will form a reserve list. Pre-registered individuals must personally confirm their attendance between 8:00 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. on the day of the contest.

The call, signed on August 27, 2026, by the President of the Budgetary Management-Treasury Area, Antonio Navas Aranda, reinforces the municipality’s commitment to an oral tradition that remains alive edition after edition, opening participation to any trovo enthusiast regardless of their place of residence.
