Awards for individual athletes from Lugo are finalized

The Provincial Council of Lugo has made public the final awarding of prizes to individual athletes from the province for the year 2026, through an announcement published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Lugo number 198, on Monday, August 31, 2026. The agreement, adopted by the Governing Board in the session of July 24, 2026, acquires a definitive character upon the conclusion of the hearing process without any allegations being filed.

The resolution, signed on August 25, 2026, by provincial deputy Pablo Rivera Capón by delegation of the presidency and with the approval of secretary José Antonio Mourelle Cillero, corresponds to reference R. 2313 and emanates from the Area of Sports, Crafts and Design, and Historical Memory.

A two-phase procedure

The call for prizes for individual athletes from the province of Lugo for the year 2026 followed a two-phase procedure. First, the Governing Board approved the provisional award agreement, assessing the applications according to the general criteria reflected in the seventh clause and the amount and distribution of prizes provided for in the third clause of the call’s bases, in accordance with the lists attached to the minutes of the Evaluation Commission.

The provisional agreement was notified to the interested parties through publication in the BOP number 161, on Thursday, July 16, 2026, and also on the Council’s website, under the heading “Provisional agreement individual athletes 2026”. Following this publication, a period of ten business days was opened for the submission of allegations.

No allegations, firm award

Once the period elapsed without any allegations being presented, the provisional agreement became definitive, as provided for by the agreement itself and the bases of the call. Consequently, the Council proceeded to publish the announcement in the BOP and on its website, under the title “Individual athlete prizes 2026”.

Under the eighth point of the bases and Article 45 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the common administrative procedure of public administrations, the final award will not be subject to individualized notification, but will instead be notified by means of publication in the official gazette.

Appeals and deadlines

Against this agreement, which ends the administrative route, interested parties may file:

• Optional appeal for reversal before the same body that issued the act, within one month from the day following the publication in the BOP of Lugo.
• Contentious-administrative appeal before the Contentious-Administrative Court of Lugo, within two months from the publication.

If the appeal for reversal is chosen, the contentious-administrative appeal cannot be filed until the former is expressly resolved or its dismissal occurs through administrative silence.

The publication of this agreement closes the award granting cycle and provides legal certainty to the awarded athletes, whose efforts in the year 2026 will be recognized, as part of the Deputación’s commitment to promoting individual sports in the province.
