Pozuelo del Páramo abre el plazo para su juez de paz titular

The Pozuelo del Páramo City Council has opened the application period for the appointment of the municipality’s permanent Justice of the Peace. The edict, signed by Mayor Hugo Pisabarro Aldonza on October 9, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of León no. 196, dated October 15, 2026, with the official reference BOP-LE-2026-196007. Interested parties have ten business days starting from the day following the publication.

The call for applications responds to the need to renew the appointment proposal for the permanent justice of the peace and is supported by Organic Law 6/1985, of July 1, of the Judiciary, and Regulation 3/1995, of June 7, of the Justices of the Peace. It is the responsibility of the Corporation’s Plenary to propose the appointment, which is subsequently formalized by the Governing Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Castilla y León. The announcement occupies page 37 of 48 of the provincial gazette, within the Local Administration section.

Ten business days to submit the application

The deadline is ten business days starting from the day following the publication of the edict in the Official Gazette of the Province of León. Persons who meet the legal conditions may submit their application at the municipal offices, where the application form is available to interested parties.

The case file may be examined at the City Council Secretariat, where precise information regarding requirements, the duration of the term, and the remuneration associated with the position can be obtained.

The regulations cited in the announcement require applicants to meet the capacity and incompatibility conditions provided for the performance of judicial functions. The general requirements are:

  • To be Spanish.
  • To be of legal age.
  • To reside in the municipality.
  • Not to be subject to the causes of incapacity, incompatibility, or prohibitions established in Organic Law 6/1985, of July 1, of the Judiciary and in Regulation 3/1995, of June 7, of the Justices of the Peace.

The application must be submitted within the established period and accompanied by documentation proving compliance with these conditions, according to the model provided by the municipal departments.

If no candidacies are submitted

The edict warns that, in the event that no applications are submitted, the Plenary of the Corporation will choose freely, in accordance with the provisions of article 101.1 of Organic Law 6/1985, of July 1, of the Judiciary and articles 4 and 6 of Regulation 3/1995, of June 7, of the Justices of the Peace.

The plenary agreement will be communicated to the Court of First Instance of the district, which is the body to which the municipal proposal is transferred.

Other open processes in the province

The call for applications in Pozuelo del Páramo coincides with other similar processes published this autumn in the Official Gazette of the Province of León:

  • Campo de Villavidel, which announced the vacancy for the position of titular Justice of the Peace in bulletin no. 193, dated October 9, 2026 (BOP-LE-2026-193005), with a deadline of one month from publication.
  • Santa Colomba de Curueño, which opened a window of fifteen business days to fill the position of substitute Justice of the Peace in bulletin no. 178, dated September 17, 2026 (BOP-LE-2026-178005).

In both cases, these are municipalities that, like Pozuelo del Páramo, must fill a position in the justice of the peace according to the regulatory procedure.

The decision directly affects the residents of Pozuelo del Páramo: those who meet the legal requirements have ten business days to submit their candidacy and apply for a position that represents the presence of the administration of justice in the municipality. If no one applies, the Plenary will be empowered to freely designate the holder and forward its proposal to the District Court, ensuring that the position is filled in any case.
