Pontevedra revokes a pub's license and initiates proceedings against a bingo hall
Por FactBox Admin

The Local Government Board of the Pontevedra City Council has agreed to revoke the opening license of a premises intended for use as a pub on the ground floor of a building at number 10 Paio Gómez Charino Street, and to initiate ex officio the procedure for the revocation of the opening license of a bingo hall located on the ground floors of the buildings at number 4 Padre Sobreira Street and number 9 Cobián Roffignac Street. The decision was adopted in the ordinary session of October 15, 2026, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Pontevedra (BOPPO) number 203, dated October 21, 2026, in the summary of agreements with reference 2026/ASXGL/000057. Both files were processed within the Urban Planning block of the general resolutive section.
The body adopting the agreements is the Local Government Board of the Pontevedra City Council, presided over by the mayor, Miguel Anxo Fernández Lores. The publication is not the full resolution, but rather a summary of the session’s agreements, a common format used by the Council to report its decisions in the provincial gazette. The published text does not detail the specific reasons underlying either of the two decisions, nor does it identify the owners of the establishments.
The difference in scope between the two points is relevant: the agreement regarding the pub is a revocation already adopted, while that of the bingo hall is only the initiation of the procedure, which must be processed with a hearing for the interested party before being resolved.
Two decisions with different scopes
- Revocation of the opening license of the premises intended for use as a pub on the ground floor of the building at number 10 Paio Gómez Charino Street, under file 2026/XENSUMAPH/000013.
- Ex officio initiation of the procedure for the revocation of the opening license of the premises intended for use as a bingo hall on the ground floors of the buildings at number 4 Padre Sobreira Street and number 9 Cobián Roffignac Street, under file 2025/COMPROBLIC/000181.
- The first is item 10 on the agenda; the second is item 11, both within the Urban Planning section.
Urban planning concentrates the resolutive part
The session of October 15 had a resolutive part heavily focused on urban planning processing, with nine points prior to the two regarding opening licenses. Among them are:
- Acceptance of the waiver for the materialization of a ramp project at Pintor Manuel Colmeneiro Street, number 12 (2026/RENUN/000014).
- Extension of the completion deadline for the replacement of climate control piping on the roof of the Castelao building of the Pontevedra Museum, at Padre Amoedo Carballo Street, number 3 (2026/PRORROGA/000048).
- License for the change of use from tertiary-commercial to residential-four dwellings on the ground floor of the building at Estrada Street, number 12, and Ludeiro Street, number 1 (2026/LUOBRAS/000021).
- License for the comprehensive rehabilitation of a detached single-family home in Casaldarado and As Cernadas, number 63, in the parish of San Salvador de Lérez (2023/LUOBRAS/000115).
- Modification license for the restoration of the facades and roof of the Antonio Odriozola public library, at Alfonso XIII Street, number 3 (2026/LUOBRAS/000149).
- License for the renovation and expansion of a single-family home at Mesón Street, number 21, A Ponte, parish of Santa María de Ponte Sampaio (2024/LUOBRAS/000260).
- License for the segregation of a commercial unit with grouping to the adjacent property at Losada Diéguez Street, numbers 18 and 20 (2025/LUPARCEL/000011).
- Declaration of expiration of the license procedure for functional adaptation works in the property at Fray Juan de Navarrete Street, number 8 (2023/LUOBRAS/000249).
Judgments, contracting, and urgent matters
In the same session, and following a unanimous declaration of urgency, the Local Government Board reported on several judicial rulings, including that of September 15, 2026, in the summary trial derived from urgent proceedings 1094/2026 of the Investigating Court One of Pontevedra (2026/COMPARECENCIAXURIS/000072) and that of July 31, 2026, in ordinary procedure 115/2025 (2025/COMPARECENCIA/000014). It also approved the classification of bids for the update and maintenance of cadastral databases (2026/ABS/000005) and took note of the reformulation of the grant application for the table tennis sports pavilion in the Monte Porreiro neighborhood (2026/SOLAX/000018).
The revocation of an opening license is one of the causes of extinction provided for enabling activity titles, along with the waiver by the holder, expiration, or definitive closure. In the case of the bingo hall, the initiation opens a procedure that may end with the loss of the license, but does not produce it automatically.
The direct impact is on two leisure establishments in the urban center of Pontevedra, a pub and a bingo hall, in a context where the City Council is reorganizing uses in commercial ground floors toward residential in other streets of the same area. For the neighbors and the hospitality sector, the two agreements indicate that the review of current opening licenses remains active in the city.
