Ponferrada presents its 2025 General Account to the public

The Ponferrada City Council has opened for public exhibition the General Account corresponding to the 2025 financial year, a procedure that will allow citizens to examine the municipal accounts and submit in writing any objections and observations they deem appropriate. The announcement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of León number 166, dated September 1, 2026, with the official reference BOP-LE-2026-166002.
The General Account, formulated and rendered by the City Council itself, received a favorable report from the Information and Monitoring Commission for Finance, Internal Regime, and Special Account Regime in a session held on August 31, 2026. The file is on public display along with the supporting documents and the report from the aforementioned Commission.
Deadline and form of participation
The public exhibition period extends for fifteen business days, counting from the day following the insertion of the announcement in the Official Gazette of the Province. During this period, interested parties may:
- Examine the General Account and the accompanying documentation.
- Submit in writing any objections and observations they deem appropriate.
- Consult the file at the municipal offices.
Access to the documentation can also be carried out electronically through the Ponferrada City Council’s website, in the section dedicated to the General Account for the 2025 financial year.
Regulatory framework
This procedure is carried out in compliance with the provisions of Article 212.3 of the Recast Text of the Law Regulating Local Treasuries, approved by Royal Legislative Decree 2/2004, of March 5. This regulation governs the procedure for the rendering and auditing of accounts of local entities, guaranteeing citizen participation in the control of municipal economic management.
The announcement is signed by the Councilor for Finance, Internal Regime, and Contracting, Luis Antonio Moreno Rodríguez, dated August 31, 2026, in Ponferrada.
Relevance of the procedure
The public exhibition of the General Account constitutes an essential mechanism for transparency and democratic control of municipal management.
