Ponferrada announces physical tests for four Local Police positions

The Ponferrada City Council has lifted the suspension of the selection process for four Local Police Officer positions and has scheduled the physical aptitude tests for October 15 and 16, 2026, at the Colomán Trabado Sports Complex, located at avenida de Asturias no. 18 in the city. The resolution, signed by Mayor Marco Antonio Morala López on September 24, 2026, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of León number 185, dated September 28, 2026, under the official reference BOP-LE-2026-185012.

The four positions belong to the Special Administration scale, Special Services sub-scale, and Local Police class, and correspond to the unified Public Employment Offers of 2023 and 2025. The rules of the call were published in the Official Gazette of the Province of León number 13, dated January 21, 2026, and in the Official Gazette of Castilla y León number 251, dated December 31, 2025, with corrections of errors in the Official Gazette of the Province of León number 50, dated March 13, 2026, and in the Official Gazette of Castilla y León number 36, dated February 23, 2026.

The process had been paralyzed by the Mayor’s resolution of September 4, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of the Province of León number 170, dated September 7, 2026, which suspended the start date. The new agreement nullifies that first operative point and reactivates the calendar.

Call Schedule

The calls will begin at 9:00 AM at the facilities of the Colomán Trabado Sports Complex, where the tests provided for in the eighth rule, point 8.1, in accordance with the fifteenth rule, will take place. The distribution of days and times is as follows:

• Open competition, October 15, 2026, 9:00 AM: from Cristina Tella del Valle to Marcos Crespo González, both inclusive.
• Open competition, October 15, 2026, 4:00 PM: from Manuel Damián Cortejoso to Ángel Gutiérrez Marcos.
• Open competition, October 16, 2026, 9:00 AM: from Raúl de la Hera Liébana to Alicia Pérez Domínguez.
• Open competition, October 16, 2026, 4:00 PM: from Daniel Pérez Fernández to Oliver Suárez González.
• Mobility shift, October 16, 2026, 4:00 PM: from Emilio Manuel Suárez Vidal to Silvia Matías Barreiro.

Mandatory Medical Certificate and Equipment

The resolution reminds applicants that they must appear in sportswear for the outdoor tests and with appropriate clothing and footwear for the pool tests, pursuant to rule 15.3. Additionally, each candidate must submit to the tribunal the medical certificate provided for in letter j) of rule 3.1, stating that they meet the precise physical conditions to perform the sports tests.

Failure to present said document will result in the applicant’s exclusion from the selection process, as expressly warned by the agreement. The advance publication of dates and times is due, according to the text, to reasons of administrative agility and efficiency and the mandate of the seventh base, point 7.1.

Change in the selection body

The agreement also resolves the recusal submitted on September 3, 2026, by Ana Cristina Suárez Álvarez, alternate member and titular secretary of the process, who stepped away from the procedure under article 23.2.c) of Law 40/2015, of October 1, on the Legal Regime of the Public Sector. Paula García Martínez is appointed as her replacement.

The change is adopted invoking article 23.3 of the same law and article 60 of the Recast Text of the Law of the Basic Statute of the Public Employee, approved by Royal Legislative Decree 5/2015, of October 30, regarding the composition and impartiality of examination boards. The resolution bears the signature of the mayor and the general secretary, Concepción Menéndez Fernández, and orders its publication in the provincial bulletin and on the corporate website.

The lifting of the suspension clears the uncertainty for the candidates, who face, in barely two weeks, eliminatory physical aptitude tests, the passing of which conditions access to four positions in the Local Police of Ponferrada. The staggered call by shifts and time slots requires each applicant to verify their exact day and time and to gather the required medical documentation in advance.
