Ponferrada abre información pública sobre un centro de datos en Javier Dátoli

The Ponferrada City Council has opened a ten-business-day public information period regarding the environmental license application for a data center located at 4 Javier Dátoli Street, promoted by Data Center Ponferrada S.L. The agreement is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of León number 186, dated September 29, 2026, with the official reference BOP-LE-2026-186009, and bears the signature of the delegated councilor for Public Safety, Urban Planning, and Festivals, Carlos Cortina García.

The file, identified as 6/2026-LA, is processed in accordance with article 28.1 of Legislative Decree 1/2015, of November 12, which approves the Revised Text of the Environmental Prevention Law of Castilla y León. The resolution is adopted by the delegated councilor for Public Safety, Urban Planning, and Festivals by delegation of the mayor (Decree 01/04/2024), and orders the initiation of the file and the submission of the application to public information through publication in the provincial gazette, the edicts board, and the virtual notice board of the Ponferrada City Council.

The announcement is dated in Ponferrada on September 28, 2026, and is inserted on page 15 of the gazette, within the local administration announcements.

Purpose of the application

The data contained in the edict are as follows:

  • Activity: data center in premises.
  • Location: 4 Javier Dátoli Street, Ponferrada.
  • Cadastral reference: 6650205PH9165S0001YI.
  • Promoter: Data Center Ponferrada S.L.
  • File: 6/2026-LA (Ref. ACSA/jfc).

The announcement does not include the technical characteristics of the project in the gazette, which are specified in the application and in the documentation deposited with the file.

Period, consultation, and allegations

The period is ten business days starting from the day following the publication of the announcement in the Official Gazette of the Province of León. During this period, the application and the submitted project may be examined at the offices of the Ponferrada City Council (Activities service), located at Plaza del Ayuntamiento 1, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and on the municipal website via the link https://ponferrada.org/es/tablon-anuncios.

Any allegations and observations deemed appropriate must be submitted to the General Registry, in the forms provided for in Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.

A step prior to the resolution

Public information is the phase in which any interested party may examine the project and raise objections before the Ponferrada City Council rules on the environmental license. The edict is disseminated through three channels—the provincial bulletin, the edicts board, and the virtual board—so that the process is open both to the residents of the Javier Dátoli street area and to any other party interested in the activity.

The resolution corresponds to the delegated councilor for Public Safety, Urban Planning, and Festivals, Carlos Cortina García, who acts by delegation of the mayor in accordance with Decree 01/04/2024.

The opening of this procedure places a technological infrastructure project in the municipality of Ponferrada, in a consolidated urban area, on the administrative calendar. Residents and interested entities have ten business days from the date of publication to review the documentation and submit allegations; once this period has elapsed, file 6/2026-LA will continue its processing until the corresponding resolution is made regarding the environmental license requested by Data Center Ponferrada S.L.
