The Minister of National Defence has set the admission limits for studies in specific fields for candidates to become professional soldiers at Poland’s four military universities for the 2027/2028 academic year, establishing a total of 2,373 places. The measure was adopted by regulation of 31 August 2026 and published in Dziennik Ustaw on 2 September 2026 under item poz. 1163.
The regulation is based on Article 444(3) of the Act of 20 July 2018 on Higher Education and Science, and was signed on behalf of the Minister by P. Bejda. It enters into force 14 days after its publication.
The four military universities
The limits are distributed across the four military academies, with the largest allocation going to the Wojskowa Akademia Techniczna im. Jarosława Dąbrowskiego (Military University of Technology), which receives 1,200 places.
- Wojskowa Akademia Techniczna im. Jarosława Dąbrowskiego — 1,200 places
- Akademia Wojsk Lądowych im. generała Tadeusza Kościuszki (Land Forces Academy) — 752 places
- Lotnicza Akademia Wojskowa (Air Force Academy) — 236 places
- Akademia Marynarki Wojennej im. Bohaterów Westerplatte (Naval Academy) — 185 places
Fields of study covered
The regulation breaks down the quotas by field of study, reflecting the armed forces’ recruitment priorities across engineering, command and security disciplines.
- Dowodzenie (Command) — 623 places, all at the Land Forces Academy
- Elektronika i telekomunikacja (Electronics and Telecommunications) — 268 places, all at the Military University of Technology
- Mechatronika — 168 places (147 at WAT, 21 at the Naval Academy)
- Lotnictwo i kosmonautyka (Aviation and Astronautics) — 235 places (126 at WAT, 109 at the Air Force Academy)
- Informatyka (Computer Science) — 116 places across three academies

Impact
By fixing these quotas well ahead of the 2027/2028 recruitment cycle, the Ministry gives prospective officer candidates a clear picture of available places and signals the technical and cyber-security skills the Polish Armed Forces intend to prioritise. The regulation is a key instrument for planning the annual intake of professional soldiers and sustaining the officer corps across the army, navy and air force.
