The Polanco City Council has published in the Official Gazette of Cantabria (BOC no. 176, of September 11, 2026) the summary of the call for the granting of direct subsidies for the promotion of birth rates 2026. The measure, signed by Mayor Rosa Díaz Fernández, grants a one-time financial benefit of 600 euros for each child born in the municipality during the year 2025.
The call, identified with the reference CVE-2026-7129 and registered in the National Subsidy Database with the identifier BDNS 928207, is published in accordance with articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of the General Subsidies Law 38/2003, of November 17. The full text can be consulted on the BDNS platform.
Object and Purpose
The regulations govern the procedure for application, processing, and granting of birth grants corresponding to the period between January 1 and December 31, 2025. The stated objective is to incentivize the reactivation of birth rates and establish mechanisms to increase the population and ensure it settles permanently in the municipality, thereby avoiding the depopulation of rural areas.
The regulatory bases are contained in the specific Annex for the granting of subsidies regarding the promotion of birth rates 2025, approved on June 17, 2026, by Mayoral Resolution number 2026-824.
Beneficiaries and Amount
The beneficiaries shall be the parents holding parental authority over the minors born in 2025. The aid consists of a one-time financial benefit of 600.00 euros per child born, identical for all applicants who meet the requirements, and will be paid in a single installment.
- In the event of annulment, separation, or divorce, the beneficiary will be the parent with whom the children remain in custody, according to the regulatory agreement or judicial sentence.
- In the case of joint custody, the aid will be split 50% between the parents.
- Parents who are totally or partially deprived of parental authority or whose guardianship has been assumed by a public institution are excluded.
Application Period
The period for submitting applications will be fifteen calendar days, calculated from 00:00 hours on the day following the publication of the summary in the Official Gazette of Cantabria, and will end at 24:00 hours on the fifteenth subsequent day. Applications submitted after the deadline will be inadmissible via a reasoned resolution that will be subject to publication.
The call for applications represents a new push by the Cantabrian city council to encourage population settlement in rural areas, within a context of depopulation affecting numerous municipalities in the community. With a uniform amount and an agile procedure, the measure seeks to provide economic support to families who decide to have children in Polanco, thereby consolidating the demographic and social fabric of the municipality.
