Poio incorporates two new local police officers as career civil servants
Por FactBox Admin

Since October 10, the Poio City Council has had two new officers in its Local Police Force. Mayor’s Resolution number 2026-1134, dated October 9, 2026, resolved to appoint Iago Álvarez Gómez and Martín Acuña Costas as career civil servants, who will occupy the vacant positions in the police category. The appointment was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Pontevedra (BOPPO) no. 199, dated October 15, 2026, in the Local Administration section, under official reference 2026073150.
A Mayor’s resolution with immediate effect
The resolution signed by the Mayor’s Office of Poio establishes that the two appointments take effect from October 10, 2026, one day after the date of the resolution itself. The document is signed by the mayor, Ángel Moldes Martínez, and includes the secure verification code VI1WU986LY3MNFX5 to verify its integrity on the electronic headquarters of the Provincial Council of Pontevedra.
The two new personnel are integrated into the following category and scale:
- Category: police.
- Group: C, subgroup C1.
- Scale: basic special administration.
- Subscale: special services.
- Body: Local Police of the Poio City Council.
Two positions from the 2025 job offer
The appointment closes the selection process convened in 2025 via open competition, by virtue of the Public Employment Offer of that same year. The call was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Pontevedra no. 56, dated March 24, 2025, and aimed to fill two positions in the police category.
The publication of the offer in March 2025 and the resolution in October 2026 thus mark a selection process that extended over more than a year and a half, from the initial call to the effective taking of office by the two officers.
Previous training at the Galician Academy of Public Security
Prior to the appointment, the two candidates passed the Local Police Training Course convened by the Galician Academy of Public Security (AGASP), an essential requirement to access the police category in local bodies in Galicia.
The resolution expressly states that the appointment occurs once that training course has been passed, confirming that Iago Álvarez Gómez and Martín Acuña Costas completed both the selective tests and the theoretical-practical training required by regional regulations.
Impact on the citizen security service
With the incorporation of these two career civil servants, the Poio City Council reinforces its citizen security service and fills the positions that remained vacant in the basic scale of the force. The consolidation of personnel as career civil servants provides the service with greater stability and guarantees the continuity of the surveillance, traffic, and citizen assistance functions provided by the Local Police in the municipality.
