Piedralaves opens fifteen-day window to apply for substitute Justice of the Peace

The Piedralaves City Council has opened a period of fifteen business days for interested parties to apply for the position of Substitute Justice of the Peace, which will become vacant in December 2026. The call for applications, signed by Mayor Germán Ulloa López, is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Ávila number 174, dated September 9, 2026, under number 1784/26.

The selection corresponds to the Plenary of the City Council, which will choose the individuals to be appointed as Justice of the Peace, both titular and substitute, in accordance with articles 101 and 102 of Organic Law 6/1985, of July 1, of the Judiciary, and articles 4 and 5.1 of Regulation 3/1995, of June 7, of the Justices of the Peace.

How to submit the application

Applications must be addressed in writing to the Mayor’s Office and submitted at the City Council’s entry registry or through the procedure regulated in article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations. The application form is available to interested parties at the municipal offices, and the file may be examined at the City Council Secretariat, where information regarding requirements, term of office, and remuneration will be provided. The documentation will also be available on the municipal electronic office.

Required documentation

Along with the application for appointment, candidates must attach the following documentation:

• Photocopy of the ID (DNI).
• Birth Certificate.
• Supplementary declaration of good civic conduct.
• Declaration stating that the applicant is not subject to any cause of incapacity or incompatibility for the exercise of the position.
• Any degrees or merits the applicant wishes to provide.

If there are no candidates

In the event that no applications are submitted, the Plenary of the Corporation will freely choose the person who will occupy the position, in accordance with the provisions of article 101.1 of Organic Law 6/1985 and articles 4 and 6 of Regulation 3/1995, communicating the agreement to the Court of First Instance of the corresponding judicial district.

The call, dated in Piedralaves on September 1, 2026, is published for the general knowledge of the residents of the Ávila municipality. Filling this local judicial position is relevant to ensure the continuity of the proximity administration of justice in the municipality, as the Justice of the Peace performs essential functions in the civil registry and in the resolution of minor matters, and the vacancy must be filled before it occurs in December.
