Piélagos adapts its taxi ordinance to the regional auto-taxi decree

The Piélagos City Council has provisionally approved the adaptation and modification of its regulatory ordinance for the taxi service, with the aim of aligning it with the regional auto-taxi regulations. The agreement was adopted by the municipal Plenary in a session held on September 3, 2026, and the announcement is now published in the Official Gazette of Cantabria (Boletín Oficial de Cantabria) no. 186, dated September 28, 2026, with the official reference CVE-2026-7437. Starting from the day following this publication, a period of thirty business days is open for interested parties to examine the file and submit claims and suggestions.

Adaptation to Decree 55/2024

The modification affects the current Municipal Ordinance titled “Regulatory Regulation of the Public Passenger Transport Service in Tourism Automobiles with Driver (Taxi)”. The reason stated by the Council is to comply with the regulatory adaptation obligation established in the First Final Provision of Decree 55/2024, of August 8, which regulates Auto-taxi services in Cantabria.

The processed file is 2026/6725, and the announcement is signed in Piélagos, on September 18, 2026, by the mayor Carlos A. Caramés Luengo.

Thirty business days for allegations

The public exhibition is carried out in accordance with the provisions of Article 49.2 of Law 7/1985, of April 2, regulating the Bases of Local Regime. The deadlines and conditions of the procedure are as follows:

• Deadline: thirty business days.
• Calculation: from the day following the publication of the announcement in the BOC.
• Purpose: to examine the file and submit claims and suggestions.
• Body that approved the agreement: the Plenary of the Piélagos City Council, on September 3, 2026.
• Reference regulation: Decree 55/2024, of August 8, on Auto-taxi services in Cantabria.

What happens if there are no claims

The announcement specifies the effect of the procedure: in the event that no claims are submitted, the agreement, which until then was provisional, will automatically be elevated to definitive. In that case, the approved Ordinance must be published in full in the Official Gazette of Cantabria to enter into force.

This is, therefore, an approval that is still provisional, subject to the public information phase and the eventual elevation to definitive once the period for allegations has closed.

Impact for taxi drivers and users

The adaptation of the municipal regulation to Decree 55/2024 directly affects taxi professionals operating in Piélagos and the users of the service in the municipality, as the ordinance sets the conditions for the provision of a public passenger transport service. The final text will only enter into force after its full publication in the BOC, once the allegations submitted during the open period have been resolved or dismissed.
