Pegalajar definitively approves its 2026 budget

The City Council of Pegalajar (Jaén) has definitively approved its General Budget, Execution Bases, and Personnel Staffing for the 2026 fiscal year, amounting to 2,925,934.85 euros. The decision, adopted by the Plenary of the Corporation, is made public through an announcement by the mayor, Manuel Carrascosa Torres, in the Official Gazette of the Province of Jaén number 163, dated August 24, 2026, with the official reference 2026/3992.
The budget was initially approved in the plenary session of July 23, 2026, and published in the BOP of Jaén number 143, dated July 27, 2026. As no claims or suggestions were submitted during the public exhibition period, the document is considered definitively approved, in accordance with article 169.3 of Royal Legislative Decree 2/2004, of March 5, which approves the Revised Text of the Law Regulating Local Treasuries, and article 20 of Royal Decree 500/1990, of April 20.
A balanced budget around 2.93 million
The municipal accounts show a balance between expenses and income, both set at 2,925,934.85 euros. The bulk of the expenditure is concentrated in current operations, totaling 2,622,528.17 euros, while capital operations reach 134,273.46 euros and financial operations reach 155,427.96 euros.
By chapter, the main planned expenses are:
- Personnel expenses: €1,002,870.59
- Expenses for current goods and services: €1,324,790.20
- Current transfers: €282,445.00
- Real investments: €134,273.46
- Financial liabilities: €150,427.96
On the income side, current transfers (€1,472,236.48), direct taxes (€782,845.68), and fees and other income (€610,551.80) stand out.
Personnel staffing with several vacant positions
The personnel staffing for 2026, which accompanies the budget, includes civil servant and labor staff positions, several of which are unfilled. Among the vacancies of interest for local public employment are:
- Administrative Officer (General Administration scale, group C1), vacant
- Administrative Assistant (group C2), with 3 vacant positions out of 4
- Special Services (group C1), with 2 vacant positions out of 4
- Water Service Manager (group E), vacant
- Technical Architect (labor staff), vacant
- Cook (labor staff), vacant
- Painter-Laborer/Ordinary Laborer, vacant
The rest of the staff is divided between permanent and interim positions, including cleaning staff, concierge, first-class tradesmen, nursery school staff, and sports monitors, among others.
