Peñausende auctions the 185-hectare plot of Cabeza Roya mountain

The Peñausende City Council has called for an auction to award the forest harvesting of pine cones across 185.77 hectares of the Public Utility Forest No. 71 “Cabeza Roya y Agregados”, which is municipally owned. The call is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Zamora No. 115, dated October 2, 2026, with the official reference R-202602240, and is processed via an open procedure, on an urgent basis, with a single award criterion: the best price.

The announcement complies with the resolution of the Mayor of Peñausende dated September 11, 2026, and was signed by the councilor on September 14, 2026. The file is processed by the General Secretariat of the council, which acts as the awarding entity.

The object of the contract is the harvesting of pine cones from the forest, with an estimated quantity of 20,000 kilos of pine cones. The bidding starts from an appraisal of 5,000 euros and is held as an ascending auction, meaning the awardee exploits the harvest at their own risk and venture. A 21% VAT is applied to the award amount.

The auction is of interest to forestry companies and the pine nut sector of the region, which find a relevant volume of pine cones and a surface area of nearly 186 hectares in this public utility forest. The procedure, decided by the best price and without other valuation criteria, reduces the administrative burden of the bid and concentrates competition on the economic amount, a common format for timber and fruit harvesting in the municipal forests of the province.
