Ourense sets the 2027 local festivals in its 92 municipalities
Por FactBox Admin

The Department of Employment, Trade and Emigration has set the two local holidays of 2027 for the 92 municipalities of the province of Ourense, which will be non-working days, paid and non-recoverable. The calendar is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Ourense on October 14, 2026, in an announcement from the territorial department of Ourense signed by the territorial director, Marta Vázquez Guzmán, with the official reference EI-A12033379 and registration number R. 2.320.
The decision derives from article 37.2 of the revised text of the Workers’ Statute Law (Royal Legislative Decree 2/2015), which reserves two of the annual labor holidays for the local sphere, and from article 46 of Royal Decree 2001/1983, on the regulation of the working day, special shifts and rest, which sets the maximum of local holidays at two days per calendar year. Article 45 of the same royal decree, in the wording given by Royal Decree 1346/1989, of November 3, completes the applied framework.
The territorial department took into account Decree 68/2026, of June 15, by which the holidays of the Autonomous Community of Galicia for the 2027 labor calendar are determined (DOG no. 122, of July 2, 2026). The resolution affects all municipalities in the province equally, from Ourense capital to the least populated municipalities.

The most repeated date is Shrove Tuesday, February 9, a non-working day in more than fifty municipalities. Other municipalities opt for Shrove Monday, February 8, while a third group chooses Ash Wednesday, February 10.

The capitals and reference towns
Ourense capital will have February 9 (Shrove Tuesday) and November 11 (San Martiño) as non-working days. Among the main towns, the calendar distributes very disparate dates:

- Verín: February 10 and September 8 (Nosa Señora dos Remedios).

Obligation of display and sanctioning regime
Companies must display the calendar in a visible place at the workplace throughout 2027, pursuant to article 34.6 of the Workers’ Statute, for the knowledge and consultation of the staff. Non-compliance constitutes a labor infringement typified in article 6 of Royal Legislative Decree 5/2000, of August 4, by which the recast text of the Law on infractions and sanctions in the social order is approved.
The announcement is published in the provincial bulletin for its due compliance, with the electronic signature of the territorial director of the department of Ourense.
The 2027 labor calendar conditions the planning of vacations, closures, and shifts of the entire productive fabric of the province, from commerce and hospitality to the industrial and agricultural sectors. Knowing the two local holidays of each municipality in advance allows companies to adjust staff schedules and families to organize long weekends in a year where Carnival again concentrates most of the non-working days.
