Ourense tightens the justification deadline for fire grants

Ourense endurece o prazo de xustificación das subvencións contra incendios

The Governing Board of the Provincial Council of Ourense approved, in its ordinary session on September 1, 2026, the modification of the regulatory bases for the call for grants for the prevention of forest fires and support for livestock and agricultural holdings for the 2026 financial year. The new wording tightens the justification deadline, which becomes non-extendable, and was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Ourense on September 8, 2026.

The modification affects the tenth base of the Governing Board’s agreement of August 24, 2026, which had approved the public competition for these grants. The original bases had been published in BOP no. 165, of August 31, 2026, and are now corrected to eliminate the exceptions that allowed extensions of the justification deadline.

Single and non-extendable deadline

With the new wording, the justification must be submitted to the Provincial Council by the deadline of December 20, 2026, on a non-extendable basis. This eliminates the previous regime, which provided for:

  • The possibility of an extension due to duly accredited force majeure, requested before October 31.
  • A maximum extension of one and a half months.
  • The extension of the deadline until January 20, 2027, for activities carried out in November and December.

Submission and appeals

Both the justification and the waiver may be submitted at any of the places provided for in the fifth base, in person or electronically, as appropriate. The modification now refers to the rules of the fourth base for the submission of applications in paper or electronic form, and maintains the absence of the obligation to present original documentation.

Against the agreement, interested parties may file a request for annulment prior to the contentious-administrative appeal before the body that issued it, or directly file a contentious-administrative appeal before the Contentious-Administrative Section of the Court of First Instance of Ourense, in both cases within a period of two months. The agreement was signed on September 2, 2026, by the president of the Provincial Council, Luis Menor Pérez.

Impact for holdings

The removal of extensions obliges livestock and agricultural holdings and requesting entities to submit the justification account before December 20, without a margin for extension except for the cases preserved by the regulation itself. The measure seeks to speed up the processing and closing of the 2026 financial year, but requires beneficiaries to strictly plan administrative deadlines.
