Ortigueira calls for 31 stalls for the Ortegal Honey Fair
Por FactBox Admin

The Ortigueira City Council has opened the application period for street vending stalls at the IV Agro-Food Fair and XXXVI Honey Fair in Ortegal, which will be held on November 14 and 15, 2026. The call was approved by Mayoral Decree number 2026-1287, dated October 14, 2026, signed by Mayor Jose Valentín Calvín Fondevila, and published in the Official Gazette of the Province of A Coruña number 200, dated October 20, 2026, under announcement number 2026/6664. The deadline to submit applications ends on November 3, 2026, at 2:00 PM.
Regulatory framework and nature of the call
The rules govern the awarding of authorizations for the exercise of street vending in the occasional market set up during the fair. The granting is governed by articles 70 to 78 of Law 13/2010, of December 17, on internal trade in Galicia, and by the regulatory ordinance for street vending in markets of the Ortigueira City Council, published in BOP number 108 on May 12, 2000.
Authorizations are granted to natural or legal persons, are non-transferable —except to the spouse and children over 18 years old— and only one license per person or entity is permitted. The authorization does not exempt the holder from any other license that may be mandatory.
31 authorizations divided into four categories
Space limitations in the venue require a maximum of 31 authorizations, broken down as follows:
- Type 1 — Beekeepers: 12 authorizations for the sale of packaged honey or derivatives.
- Type 2 — Primary sector food producers: 10 authorizations for unprocessed produce (fruit, vegetables, mushrooms).
- Type 3 — Producers of agro-food products: 8 authorizations for processed products, labeled and with complete sanitary registrations.
- Type 4 — Agricultural machinery exhibitors: 1 authorization for tractors, brush cutters, and implements.
Stalls of the first three types are located in a designated tent, with a maximum surface area of 3 meters wide by 2 meters deep. The machinery exhibition occupies an open outdoor space, with 15 meters wide by 10 meters deep, in front of the municipal social services building. Electricity costs and security-related expenses are covered by the City Council.
Scoring, deadlines, and submission of applications
Admitted applications are scored to establish priority: selling certified organic products grants 2 points; products with a Protected Designation of Origin or Protected Geographical Indication, another 2; and providing payment methods alternative to cash, 1 point. In the event of a tie, the order of entry in the registry decides.
The instructing body is the Employment and Local Development Agency, which qualifies the documentation through the local employment and development agent. Defects may be corrected within three business days; those who fail to do so will be excluded. Provisional beneficiaries have five business days to provide proof of fee payment, the civil liability insurance policy, and two passport-sized photos.
The required documentation includes registration in the IAE (Economic Activities Tax) and Social Security, civil liability insurance, the food handling training certificate and, in the case of direct sales operations, the certificate of registration in Reaga in accordance with Decree 125/2014. For the scoring scale, certificates from CREAGA and the Galician Agency for Food Quality are also valued.
Applications are submitted at the General Registry of the City Council, the municipal electronic office, or by any of the means specified in article 16.4 of Law 39/2015. If sent by Mail, it is mandatory to notify the City Council indicating the date of posting.
Schedules, fees, and assembly at the Alameda landfill
The fair opens on Saturday, November 14, from 12:00 to 20:00 hours and Sunday, November 15, from 10:00 to 19:00 hours. The assembly of the stalls allows the entry of vehicles between 07:00 and 11:00 on Saturday; after that time, no vehicle may access the precinct. Dismantling cannot take place before 19:00 on Sunday, and the spaces must be cleared before 08:00 hours on November 16.
The applicable fee is 0.82 euros per square meter per day, in application of article 6.1 of municipal ordinance number 15, which amounts to 9.84 euros for a 3 by 2 meter stall for the two days. The bases may be challenged through an optional appeal for reversal within one month or a contentious-administrative appeal within two months.
The event consolidates the commercial and tourist autumn of the Ortegal region and provides a regulated outlet for local honey and agri-food production, with a limited offer of spaces that requires producers to submit documentation before November 3.
