Ordes submits water, sewage, and cemetery fees for public consultation
Por FactBox Admin

The Ordes City Council has initially approved the modification of the fiscal ordinances regulating cemetery, drinking water, and sewage taxes, a change that directly affects the bills of all residents. The agreement was adopted by the Municipal Corporate Plenary in the ordinary session of September 25, 2026, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of A Coruña on October 1, 2026, number 188, with the official reference 2026/6314. Starting the day after publication, a thirty-day period is open to examine the file and submit claims.
The announcement, signed in Ordes on September 28, 2026, by the mayor-president José Luis Martínez Sanjurjo, is processed under article 17.1 and 2 of Legislative Royal Decree 2/2004, of March 5, which approves the revised text of the Law regulating local finances. The regulation requires provisional agreements for the modification of fiscal ordinances to be submitted for public information before their final approval.
If no claim is submitted within the period, the provisional agreements will be understood as definitively adopted without the need for a new plenary pronouncement. The modification focuses on the articles that set the tax quotas, that is, the amounts issued in the bills.
The three affected ordinances
- Fiscal Ordinance number 14, regulating the municipal cemetery tax: section I of article 6, relating to the tax quota, is modified.
- Fiscal Ordinance number 18, regulating the tax for the provision of the drinking water service: article 5, relating to the tax quota, is modified.
- Fiscal Ordinance number 19, regulating the sewage tax: article 5, relating to the tax quota, is modified.
How to appeal
- Period: thirty days counted from the day following the publication of the edict in the Official Gazette of the Province of A Coruña.
- Place of consultation: the municipal Secretariat of the Ordes City Council, where interested persons may examine the file.
- Claims: allegations deemed appropriate may be submitted within this period.
- Effect: without claims, the provisional agreements become final.
Background of the water cycle
Ordes already has other procedures underway related to the water service. The Official Gazette of the Province of A Coruña of August 24, 2026, number 160, published the public exhibition of the fiscal register for the water supply, sanitation, WWTP purification, and waste service for the second quarter of 2026, approved by agreement of the Governing Board on July 31, 2026, with reference 2026/5517.
That announcement, signed by the acting mayor Ana Soneira Liñares (Resolution 1093/2026), established fifteen days of public exhibition and two months for payment during the voluntary period. It further reminded that the non-payment of the water fee may be demanded via enforcement through the competent department for finance of the Xunta de Galicia.
The modification of the water, drainage, and cemetery fees has a direct effect on the receipt paid by the residents of Ordes, meaning that the thirty-day period is the only window to review the file and discuss the amounts before the provisional agreements are consolidated. Any change in the tariffs will enter into force under the conditions established by the final approval of the ordinance.
