The Order Chapter announces the award of the Order of Viesturs in the Official Gazette of Latvia (Latvijas Vēstnesis)

In the official publication of the Republic of Latvia, Latvijas Vēstnesis, on November 3, 2026, issue No. 212, Chapter of Orders Notice No. 18 titled “On the Awarding of the Order of Viesturs” was published. With this notice, the decision of the Chapter of Orders to grant a state decoration is officially announced.

Procedure for Bringing the Award to the Public

The Order of Viesturs is one of the highest state decorations of Latvia, and the procedure for its awarding is regulated by the law “On Latvian State Decorations”. Decorations are awarded by the Chapter of Orders, and the chapter’s notices are published in the official gazette, thereby giving the act of awarding a public and verifiable status.

Previous notices from this year show that the chapter publishes its decisions gradually and announces several different awards simultaneously in a single issue. The last set of awards published before this issue appeared on October 30.

Consistent Numbering and Regular Publication Rhythm

The numbering of the notices is continuous and uniform for all orders: numbers No. 13 and No. 14 in September, No. 15, No. 16, and No. 17 at the end of October, and now No. 18 in November indicate a single sequential series of chapter decisions. This means that the specific notice is the next step within the already initiated autumn award cycle, rather than an isolated exceptional case.

Accordingly, in the issue of Thursday, November 3, alongside the award announcement, nine other numbered documents were published in the section for institutions and municipalities, including decisions and binding regulations of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the State Plant Protection Service, and several municipal councils — Alūksne, Dobele, Limbaži, Madona, Talsi, and Tukums.
