Once electoral boards publish the free venues for the electoral campaign
Por FactBox Admin

The eleven zonal electoral boards of the province of Badajoz have published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Badajoz number 202, dated October 21, 2026, the list of official premises and public places that city councils provide free of charge for campaign events for the general elections on November 29. Announcements 4145/2026 (Badajoz), 4174/2026 (Mérida), and 4185/2026 (Zafra), along with those of the remaining eight zones, detail properties, public squares, capacities, and usage schedules.
The publication implements Article 57 of the Organic Law of the General Electoral Regime (LOREG), which requires city councils to reserve official premises and public places for the free holding of campaign events, and Article 56 for the placement of posters, banners, and streamers. The certifications are signed by the secretaries of each zonal board and are sent to the Provincial Electoral Board of Badajoz and the Government Delegation in Extremadura, in accordance with Article 54.2 of the same regulation. The campaign runs from November 13 to 27, 2026, as specified in the announcements for Don Benito (4153/2026), Llerena (4158/2026), and Villanueva de la Serena (4134/2026).
Eleven districts and a single procedure
The lists cover the zones of Badajoz, Almendralejo (4149/2026), Castuera (4206/2026), Don Benito, Fregenal de la Sierra (4179/2026), Herrera del Duque (4181/2026), Jerez de los Caballeros (4200/2026), Llerena, Mérida, Villanueva de la Serena, and Zafra. Each board certifies the list submitted by its city councils after examining it in session.
In Herrera del Duque, the minutes of October 20, 2026, record the approval of the list by the president, Pedro Macías Montes, the judicial members Cecilia Margarita Rodríguez Pérez and María Felisa Agenjo Ruiz, and the secretary Leticia Benito Sanz. In Zafra, the board of October 19, 2026, also approved the distribution of spaces among parties, coalitions, federations, and groups of electors, as signed by the secretary Rosario Montilla Mena.
From schoolyards to village squares
The Badajoz zone provides the Las Palmeras sports hall, the courtyards of ten public schools in the capital, and several squares, in addition to spaces in municipalities and districts:
- Alburquerque: Plaza de España and the assembly hall of the “Luis Landero” House of Culture.
- Badajoz: courtyards of the CEIP General Navarro, Cerro de Reyes, Santa Engracia, Guadiana, Luis de Morales, Leopoldo Pastor Sito, Santo Tomás de Aquino, Puente Real, Luis Vives, and Ntra. Sra. de Botoa.
- Badajoz: Plaza del Progreso and Gurugú, Plaza del Mercado de San Roque, and the squares of the villages of Alcazaba, Alvarado, Balboa, Gévora, Novelda del Guadiana, Sagrajas, Valdebótoa, and Villafranco del Guadiana.
- Pueblonuevo del Guadiana: municipal tent with 300 seats and House of Culture with 200 seats.
- San Vicente de Alcántara: assembly hall and Santa Ana hermitage, Monday to Friday from 17:00 to 22:00 hours.
In Mérida, the San Andrés sports court, the auditoriums of La Antigua and Nueva Ciudad, and the squares of Montealto and Diversidad are offered, from 19:00 to 21:30 hours, with the warning that no candidacy may reserve more than one location per day and that the Plaza de España will not be authorized. Montijo provides eight venues, including the “Ángel Rodríguez” sports center and the Centinela room.
Schedules, capacities, and limitations
Schedules vary by municipality and, when not specified, venues are understood to be available every day of the campaign without time limitations. Some examples collected in the announcements:
- Cabeza del Buey (Castuera): Cultural Center with 300 seats, from 12:00 to 24:00 hours.
- Fregenal de la Sierra: hall of the Nertóbriga municipal center for about 300 people and House of Culture for about 100.
- Don Benito: around 600 public lighting lampposts for propaganda, in addition to panels in squares and access points.
- Zafra: Grande and Chica squares from 19:00 to 24:00 hours, 40 boards (108.64 meters), and banners on Familia Díaz Ambrona, de la Estación, and Antonio Chacón avenues.
- Almendralejo: civic center, Palacio del Vino, bullring, and fairground tent, with reservations for specific days.
A certification with an outdated reference
Announcement 4174/2026 from the Mérida area, signed by secretary M.ª Ángeles Muñoz Hurtado, carries in its text a reference to the “upcoming general elections of July 23, 2023,” despite the list being published for the elections of November 29, 2026. The remaining certifications, such as that of Badajoz, signed by Jesús María González Iglesias, and that of Castuera, signed by Manuel García Ruiz, correctly cite this year’s call.
The publication arrives with the campaign less than a month away and sets the rules of the game for parties, candidates, and residents: city councils must provide the spaces free of charge, but each board may limit the days, hours, and number of reservations per candidacy. Any authorized event will subsequently be communicated to the Government Delegation in Extremadura, such that the published list is the basis upon which electoral propaganda will be organized throughout the province.
