Olivier Bossard appointed Director General of the Lille University Hospital by decree
Por FactBox Admin

By two decrees dated October 26, 2026, published in the Official Journal of the French Republic on October 27, 2026 (JORF No. 0251), Olivier Bossard is appointed Director General of the Lille University Hospital Center (Nord), and simultaneously, the duties of Frédéric Boiron as director of the same establishment are terminated. The texts bear the references SFHN2626549D for the appointment and SFHN2626539D for the cessation of duties. The succession at the head of the Lille UH is thus sealed by two acts signed on the same day.
Two complementary decrees, one single signatory
Both texts emanate from the Ministry of Health, Families, Autonomy and People with Disabilities and bear the same signature date, October 26, 2026, for publication the following day in the Official Journal. Their provisions are strictly parallel:
- decree SFHN2626539D terminates the duties of Director General of the Lille University Hospital Center (Nord) held by Mr. Frédéric Boiron, hospital director of transitional grade;
- decree SFHN2626549D terminates, in its Article 1, the duties of Mr. Olivier Bossard as Director General of the Saint-Etienne University Hospital Center (Loire);
- its Article 2 appoints Mr. Olivier Bossard, hospital director of transitional grade, as Director General of the Lille University Hospital Center (Nord).
Both decrees entrust the execution of their provisions to the Prime Minister, the Minister of Health, Families, Autonomy and People with Disabilities, and the Minister of Higher Education, Research and Space, each as it concerns them.
A profile of a hospital director of transitional grade
The phrasing used by the Official Journal is identical for the three individuals concerned: Olivier Bossard, Frédéric Boiron and, a few days earlier, Arnaud Corvaisier are all described as “hospital directors of transitional grade.” The Lille decree contains no conditions regarding the effective date or the duration of the mandate: the appointment takes effect according to the terms of the published text, with no mention of a deferred assumption of duties.
This move is part of a sequence of appointments to the management of university hospital centers. A decree dated October 22, 2026, published in JORF No. 0248 on October 23, 2026, under reference SFHN2626560D, had already appointed Mr. Arnaud Corvaisier, hospital director of transitional grade, as Director General of the Caen Normandie University Hospital Center (Calvados), following a comparable editorial structure.
Lille, an establishment at the heart of a research network
The Lille University Hospital (CHU de Lille) is among the members of the public interest group “Cancéropôle Nord-Ouest,” whose amended constitutive agreement was approved by a decree dated September 25, 2026, published in JORF No. 0236 of October 9, 2026 (ESRR2623454A). This group, which federates cancer research across the North-West interregion, notably brings together:
- the Amiens-Picardie University Hospital, the Caen University Hospital, the Lille University Hospital, and the Rouen University Hospital;
- the François Baclesse Center, the Henri Becquerel Center, and the Oscar Lambret Center;
- INSERM and the CNRS;
- the universities of Lille, Amiens, Caen, and Rouen.
Its headquarters are located at 6, rue du Professeur-Laguesse, CS50027, 59045 Lille Cedex, and its agreement is extended for nine years starting from August 27, 2026.
Scope of the appointment
For hospital-university staff, research partners, and the local authorities of Hauts-de-France, these two decrees of October 26, 2026, shift the governance of the Lille University Hospital from one incumbent to another in a single day of publication, with no transition period provided for by the texts. The new Director General arrives from another regional university hospital, Saint-Etienne, whose leadership he leaves simultaneously, which in turn creates a vacancy at the head of that establishment.
