The TSXG appoints Enrique Guerreiro as justice of the peace of As Somozas

The Governing Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Galicia has agreed to the appointment of Enrique Guerreiro Martínez as the titular justice of the peace for the municipality of As Somozas for a period of four years. The agreement was adopted at the meeting on July 23, 2026, and is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of A Coruña on September 21, 2026, number 180, in the Justice Administration section, under announcement number 2026/6043.

The edict, signed in A Coruña on July 30, 2026, by the government secretary, Juan José Martín Álvarez, states that the appointee was elected by the Plenary of the municipality by obtaining the favorable vote of the absolute majority of its members. Deadlines and procedures for taking office

• Taking office at the judicial office of the municipality for which the person is appointed, before the person exercising jurisdiction.
• A period of 20 calendar days counted from the day following the publication of the appointment in the provincial gazette.
• Prior oath or promise before the judge of the respective court of first instance.
• Application of the form provided for in article 101.5 of the Organic Law of the Judiciary.

Failure to comply with these deadlines or the lack of an oath prevents the appointment from taking effect, according to the general regulation applicable to justices of the peace.

Appeal and incompatibilities

Against the appointment agreement, interested parties may file an administrative appeal (recurso de alzada) before the General Council of the Judiciary within one month counted from the day following the publication of the edict. Furthermore, those appointed justices of the peace who are subject to any incompatibility must choose, within a period of eight days, the position that interests them.

The edict occupies a single page of the gazette and appears under the heading of the High Court of Justice of Galicia, within the Justice Administration section, signed by the Government Secretariat of the Galician high court.
