O TSXG nomea tres xuíces de paz en Lobeira, Coles e Melón

The Governing Chamber Commission of the High Court of Justice of Galicia (TSXG) has agreed on the appointment of three justices of the peace for three municipalities in the province of Ourense: Lobeira, Coles, and Melón. The appointments, for a period of four years, are published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Ourense on September 30, 2026, in section V. Courts and Tribunals, through three edicts from the Government Secretariat.

Three appointments for four years

The agreement was adopted at the meeting of the Governing Chamber Commission of the TSXG held on July 23, 2026. According to the edicts, the candidates were elected by the plenums of the respective municipalities with the favorable vote of the absolute majority of its members, and the positions have a duration of four years.

  • Lobeira: titular justice of the peace, Rosa Elisa Álvarez Domínguez (reference R. 2.218).
  • Coles: titular justice of the peace, María Isabel Boimorto Figueiral (reference R. 2.219).
  • Melón: substitute justice of the peace, Manuel Rodríguez Rodríguez (reference R. 2.217).

The three edicts were signed in A Coruña on July 30, 2026, by the Government Secretary, Juan José Martín Álvarez, and share literally the same operative text, varying only the municipality, the position, and the designated person.

Deadlines for taking office and means of appeal

The appointees must take office at the judicial office of the municipality for which they were designated, before the person who had been exercising jurisdiction, within a period of 20 calendar days starting from the day following the publication of the appointment in the provincial gazette. Prior to this, they must take an oath or promise before the judge of the respective court of first instance, in the manner established by article 101.5 of the Organic Law of the Judiciary.

  • Administrative appeal (recurso de alzada) before the General Council of the Judiciary within one month starting from the day following the publication of the edict.
  • A period of eight days to opt for the position of interest for anyone subject to any incompatibility.

Administrative framework and scope

The three announcements were processed through the Government Secretariat of the TSXG, based in A Coruña, and are included in section V of the provincial gazette, reserved for the acts of courts and tribunals. Publication in the Official Gazette of the Province of Ourense is the requirement that activates the legal deadlines: from the day following its appearance in the gazette, both the 20 calendar days for taking office and the month to challenge the agreement before the General Council of the Judiciary are counted.

The appointment affects three municipalities in the province, which now have justices of the peace renewed for four years, providing a proximity function in the administration of justice at a local level. The residents of Lobeira, Coles, and Melón thus have an updated judicial reference, while any interested person may consult the full content of the edicts in the September 30, 2026 edition of the provincial bulletin.
