Sergas appoints permanent emergency personnel and assigns a destination in Valdeorras
Por FactBox Admin

The General Directorate of Human Resources of the Galician Health Service (Sergas) has appointed permanent statutory personnel in the category of hospital emergency physician and has assigned a definitive destination to the selected candidate. The decision is contained in the Resolution of September 22, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of Galicia (DOG) number 185, of September 29, 2026, in section IV, Oppositions and competitions (p. 50629). The assigned position is one of those that remained vacant after the destination selection process following the appointment resolution of July 31, 2026.
The selection process, by competition system, was convened by the Resolution of May 11, 2023 (DOG no. 98, of May 25), in execution of Law 2/2022, of October 6, on extraordinary measures aimed at promoting the filling of hard-to-fill positions for certain statutory personnel with a specialist degree in health sciences of the Sergas.
Prior to this resolution, the same general directorate had already published appointments and definitive destination assignments in resolutions of December 26, 2025 (DOG no. 4, of January 8, 2026), March 20, 2026 (DOG no. 63, of April 7), May 25, 2026 (DOG no. 105, of June 8), and July 31, 2026 (DOG no. 150, of August 11).
A vacant position and the order of precedence
Clause 10.3 of the call establishes that failure to report for active service at the assigned destination within the fixed period, without justified cause, subsequent to the request for participation in the competition or due to force majeure, prevents the completion of the appointment and the acquisition of the status of permanent statutory personnel.
Once the destination selection process was completed, one (1) vacant position remained. Therefore, the convening body offered that position to the candidates included immediately following in the order of precedence of the final list, regardless of the access turn.
All actions of candidates who did not select the offered destinations, who were not assigned any destination they opted for, or who waived the selection, were rendered null and void. Furthermore, anyone who did not submit the documentation within the deadline or lacks any of the requirements of the process forfeits all their rights.

The appointed person, who appears in Annex I of the resolution, is:

- Municipality: O Barco de Valdeorras.
- Character: definitive destination.
The national identity document number is partially hidden to preserve personal data, in accordance with Organic Law 3/2018, of December 5.
Deadlines, training and permanence
- Effective and permanent incorporation into active service: deadline of one month from the day following the publication of the resolution in the DOG.
- Participation in transfer competitions, internal promotion, or provision of another category: requires two years of permanence in active service at the assigned center.
- Mandatory training in gender equality and prevention of gender violence (basic level): maximum deadline of six months from the publication of the appointment, in accordance with Decree 70/2017, of July 13, and article 157 of Law 7/2023, of November 30.
- Those who take office as a hospital emergency physician are excluded from the temporary selection processes in which they are enrolled in Sergas.
End of the process and appeal procedure
The resolution declares the selective process for entry into the category of hospital emergency physician convened by the Resolution of May 11, 2023, as finished. Against it, which ends the administrative route, an optional appeal for reversal may be filed before the General Directorate of Human Resources within one month from the day following publication, or direct challenge in the contentious-administrative jurisdiction.
The text is dated September 22, 2026, in Santiago de Compostela and is signed by the general director of Human Resources, María del Mar Pousa Cobas.
The resolution closes an extraordinary process designed to cover hard-to-fill positions in Sergas and ensures that the selected personnel incorporate and remain in the position for several years, a condition that Law 2/2022 itself collects in its article 2. For readers, this translates into a reinforcement of the hospital emergency staffing in O Barco de Valdeorras and the conclusion of a call that lasted more than three years.
