The Santiago City Council opens 85,000 euros in grants for commerce

The City Council of Santiago de Compostela has opened a call for grants endowed with 85,000 euros to finance commercial promotion and revitalization activities during the year 2026. The call, signed by councilor Iago Lestegás Tizón, was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of A Coruña number 165, dated August 31, 2026, under announcement number 2026/5627.

The grants, the summary of which is disseminated in compliance with articles 17.3.b and 20.8.a of Law 38/2003, of November 17, General Law on Subsidies, are registered in the National Grants Database with the identifier BDNS 925061. The full text of the regulations can be consulted on the municipal electronic office (sede.santiagodecompostela.gal).

Amount and limits per entity

The total credit amounts to 85,000 euros, charged to the budgetary application 020 43100 4890100 “Commerce. Other Non-nominative Transfers”. Each beneficiary entity may receive up to 80% of the eligible expenditure budget, with a maximum limit of 40,000 euros per applicant.

Who can apply for the grants

Beneficiaries may be merchants’ associations or other representative entities of small and medium-sized commercial enterprises that meet these requirements:

  • Be legally constituted, non-profit, with a registered office and scope of action in the municipality of Santiago de Compostela.
  • Have a minimum of 15 associated establishments.
  • That 60% of the associated establishments belong to the commercial sector.
  • Entities composed of companies operating in municipal markets subject to administrative concession are excluded.

Deadline and justification

Applications may be submitted within a period of ten business days, counting from the day following the publication of the call in the BOP of A Coruña. The justification of the grant shall precede payment, and the deadline for submission is October 31, 2026.

The call represents a new boost to the commercial fabric of Compostela, which will be able to finance campaigns and promotion activities throughout the year, in a context where small businesses seek to reinforce their visibility and competitiveness.
