Nueva Carteya announces open competitive examination for one Local Police officer position

The City Council of Nueva Carteya has published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Córdoba number 178, dated September 15, 2026, the rules governing the call and selection process to fill, as permanent career civil service personnel, one position of Local Police officer through a competitive examination system, in the open category. The call, signed by the mayor-president Eduardo García Roldán on September 4, 2026, is contained in the official document BOP-A-2026-3065 (file GEX 2026/4423).

The announced position belongs to the Special Administration Scale, Special Services Subscale, Police category of the Local Police Corps, and is classified under Group C, Subgroup C1, in accordance with article 23.1.c) of Law 6/2023, of July 7, on Local Police of Andalusia. It is part of the Public Employment Offer of the City Council of Nueva Carteya for 2024, published in the BOP of Córdoba number 120, dated June 24, 2024.

Requirements and submission of applications

To participate, applicants must meet the following requirements before the application deadline:

• Possess Spanish nationality.
• Be at least eighteen years of age and not have reached the compulsory retirement age.
• Hold a Bachiller (High School) degree, Technician degree, or equivalent.
• Hold driving licenses of classes A2 and B, without restriction for automatic vehicles, and commit to driving police vehicles.
• Commit to carrying weapons and, where applicable, using them.
• Not have been dismissed from service nor be disqualified from public office, and have no criminal record for intentional crimes.

Applications, addressed to the Mayor’s Office, may be submitted within twenty business days from the day following the publication of the call in the BOE, through the General Electronic Registry of the City Council or at the locations provided for in article 16.4 of Law 39/2015. The examination fees amount to 30.00 euros, payable by deposit or transfer to IBAN ES82 3098 8501 3711 5095 9920 of Caja Rural de Nueva Carteya.

Competitive examination phase

The selection process begins with the competitive examination phase, consisting of four eliminatory tests:

• Knowledge test: a multiple-choice questionnaire of 100 questions (plus 6 additional for annulments), with four alternatives, and the resolution of a practical case. Each correct answer adds 0.10 points and each error subtracts 0.025; a maximum of 3 hours is available.
• Physical fitness test: 50-meter sprint, upper and lower body strength, agility circuit, and swimming, with a rating of fit or unfit.
• Medical examination: in accordance with the medical exclusion table of Annex II.
• Psychotechnical test: evaluation of cognitive skills and personality variables for the exercise of police functions.

The Qualifying Board will consist of a president, four members, and a secretary, with their corresponding alternates, and two of its members must belong to the Andalusian Local Police forces with a category equal to or higher than the position announced.

Entry course and on-the-job training

Those who pass the competitive examination will be appointed as trainee civil servants and must complete the entry course at the Institute of Emergencies and Public Safety of Andalusia, at an accredited school, or at a municipal Local Police school. Failure to join or the unjustified abandonment of the course results in the loss of the results obtained in the competitive examination.

After the course, candidates will undergo three months of on-the-job training, which must begin within a maximum period of one month from the completion of the course. Passing this period with a rating of fit is mandatory for appointment as a career civil servant, which entails a minimum stay of five years in the municipality, pursuant to article 43.5 of Law 6/2023.
