New call for applications from the ONE for three local committees
Por FactBox Admin

The Board of Directors of the Office of Birth and Childhood (ONE) is relaunching the recruitment of members for its local committees in Namur, Luxembourg, and Brussels. The official notice, published in the Belgian Official Gazette on October 6, 2026, under reference C − 2026/007282 (p. 53182), follows the resignation of members from these three bodies. Institutions and services active in the field of the Office’s missions, established within the jurisdiction of these committees, are invited to submit candidates.
A new call following resignations
The Board of Directors of the ONE acts in accordance with the decree of the French Community of July 17, 2002, regarding the reform of the Office of Birth and Childhood, and specifically its articles 18 and 37, § 2. Committee members are appointed by the Board of Directors based on the complementarity of their skills in childhood matters, particularly in connection with the missions of the Office and public management, notably in its budgetary and legal aspects.
The notice was signed in Brussels on June 24, 2026, by the President of the Board of Directors, L. Demaret, but was only brought to the public’s attention on October 6, 2026, the date of its publication in the Belgian Official Gazette.
Eligibility conditions and composition of the committees
- Must not be part of the paid staff of the O.N.E.
- Must not have reached the age of 65 at the time of submission or renewal of the application.
- Each committee consists of 9 members; the Board of Directors must ensure that it includes at least:
- one representative of an organizing authority for reception centers;
- one representative of an organizing authority for consultation;
- one consultation physician.
Parity: only male applications admissible in Namur and Luxembourg
Committees must be composed of a maximum of two-thirds of members of the same sex. Given the current composition of the committees in Namur and Luxembourg, only male applications can be considered. The notice mentions no such restriction for the Brussels committee, where applications from both sexes therefore remain open.
Submission of applications
- Sent by registered mail, with the postmark serving as proof.
- Deadline: no later than the 60th day following publication, i.e., December 5, 2026.
- Address: Board of Directors of the ONE, chaussée de Charleroi 95, 1060 Brussels.
- Required content: precise identification of the candidate (surname, first name, place and date of birth, residence, profession), skills in childhood matters, motivations, and any other element invoked in support of the application.
Scope of the call
For stakeholders in the childcare sector in the French Community, this call opens a two-month window to influence the composition of the local committees that oversee the reception, consultation, and monitoring of childcare settings on the ground. The parity constraint, which effectively rules out female candidates in Namur and Luxembourg, illustrates the recurring difficulty these bodies face in achieving gender balance while renewing their membership following resignations.
