The tribunal that will qualify access to the Local Police has been appointed

The General Directorate of the Galician Academy of Public Security (Agasp) has appointed the tribunal that will qualify the unitary selective process for access by open competition to the Local Police bodies of Galicia, basic scale, police category (procedure code PR461B). The decision was adopted through the Resolution of September 9, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of Galicia number 172, of September 10, 2026 (p. 48467), and signed by the general director, Santiago Villanueva Álvarez.

The process was convened through the Order of July 21, 2026 (DOG number 143, of July 31), and the appointment of the tribunal is carried out by delegation of the counselor of Presidency, Justice and Sports, in accordance with the sole additional provision of the aforementioned order. The action is framed within the provisions of article 6.2 of Decree 115/2017, of November 17, which regulates the cooperation of the general Administration of the Autonomous Community of Galicia with the city councils in the selection of members of the local police bodies, municipal guards, and local police assistants.

Composition of the main tribunal

The main tribunal will be presided over by a prosecutor and will include representation from Agasp itself and members of the local police bodies of various Galician councils:

• President: María Rey Rivera, prosecutor of the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of Pontevedra.
• Secretary: Mónica María Castro Pérez, head of the Public Security Training Service of Agasp.
• Members: Martina Marcos Mosquera, officer of the Local Police body of the Council of Ames; Héctor Corgo Souto, local police officer of the Council of Narón; and Begoña del Río Martínez, local police officer of the Council of Santiago de Compostela.

Substitute tribunal

The substitute tribunal, which will act in case of absence or impossibility of the main members, is composed of:

• President: Paula Cajaraville Leiro, prosecutor of the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of Pontevedra.
• Secretary: Manuel Castro Escariz, inspector of the Local Police body of the Council of Caldas de Reis.
• Members: Lorena Ponte Saavedra, officer of the Local Police body of the Council of A Coruña; Alejandro Trasbach Somoza, local police officer of the Council of Vilagarcía de Arousa; and Diego García Fariña, local police officer of the Council of Ordes.

A unitary process for thousands of applicants

The unitary selective process, managed by Agasp based in A Estrada, centralizes access by open competition to the local police bodies of the adhering councils into a single call, affecting thousands of applicants from all over Galicia. The composition of the tribunal, with the presence of prosecutors and active members of the local bodies, seeks to guarantee objectivity and specialization in the evaluation of the tests.

The publication of this resolution marks a decisive step in the process calendar, as the constitution of the tribunal is a prerequisite for holding the selective tests. Applicants should stay attentive to the following publications in the Diario Oficial de Galicia, where the exam dates and the remaining steps of procedure PR461B will be announced.
