Ten justices of the peace appointed in seven municipalities of Guadalajara
Por FactBox Admin

The Governing Chamber of the High Court of Justice of Castilla-La Mancha has appointed ten justices of the peace, both titular and substitutes, in seven municipalities of the province of Guadalajara. The agreement, adopted on October 9, 2026, is published by edict in the Official Gazette of the Province of Guadalajara number 200, corresponding to Tuesday, October 20, 2026, within the Other Courts section. Those appointed must take office within twenty calendar days from the date of publication.
The agreement and its regulatory basis
The edict is signed by Sigfrido Mangas Morales, Secretary of Government of the High Court of Justice of Castilla-La Mancha, and is issued by virtue of Regulation 3/1995, of June 7, on Justices of the Peace, published in the Official State Gazette on July 13, 1995. The Governing Chamber acted in commission, in accordance with articles 101.2 and 101.4 of the Organic Law of the Judiciary, and in compliance with the agreement of the Plenary of the General Council of the Judiciary of December 1, 1995.
The document is dated in Albacete on October 15, 2026, and bears the verification code a165c40aee1b781bec3ae4047287090443a03c4a from the electronic office of the Provincial Council.
The ten appointments, municipality by municipality
The positions are distributed among seven localities, with a different number of filled vacancies in each:
- Campillo de Dueñas: substitute justice of the peace, Juan Martínez Martínez (D.N.I. ****6314).
- Ciruelas: titular justice of the peace, María Ángeles Pérez Marcos (D.N.I. ****7133); substitute justice of the peace, Ramón Morcillo Castronuevo (D.N.I. ****9187).
- Congostrina: titular justice of the peace, Inmaculada Morales García (D.N.I. ****2333); substitute justice of the peace, Carlos Cortés Sanz (D.N.I. ****2227).
- Las Navas de Jadraque: titular justice of the peace, Arturo Mayor Cuevas (D.N.I. ****0210).
- Ocentejo: titular justice of the peace, Néstor Mariñas García (D.N.I. ****8691); substitute justice of the peace, José Luis de Andrés Martínez (D.N.I. ****7946).
- Tortuero: titular justice of the peace, María Martínez Calvente (D.N.I. ****6051).
- Totanés: substitute justice of the peace, Dionisio Taranco Miguel (D.N.I. 5194).
Ciruelas, Congostrina, and Ocentejo are the only municipalities to appoint a full pair, with both a titular and a substitute; in the rest, only one of the two positions is filled.
Taking office, mandate, and appeal
Those appointed shall take office within twenty calendar days following the publication of their appointment in the provincial gazette, after taking an oath or making a promise before the Court of First Instance and Instruction of the district or before the Dean if there are several. The four-year mandate is calculated from the date of publication in the Official Gazette of the Province. Anyone who has already taken the oath for the same position is not required to repeat it.
An administrative appeal (recurso de alzada) may be filed against this agreement within one month, counting from the day following its notification or publication, before the Permanent Commission of the General Council of the Judiciary, in accordance with Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations.
Immediate background
This is not the first batch of the autumn. The Official Gazette of the Province of Guadalajara number 172, dated September 9, 2026, published another edict from the same Governing Chamber, in that case with an agreement dated September 4, which filled eight positions in Sayatón, Valdeavellano, Barriopedro, and Puebla de Beleña, under the same regime of possession and mandate.
The renewal of these figures affects small municipalities, where the justice of the peace handles the first judicial approach: conciliations, communication acts, and minor civil proceedings without the need to travel to the district capital. With ten positions filled in a single resolution, the province reinforces a proximity judicial structure that depends on the availability of residents willing to assume the office for four years.
