Head of Inspection and Registration of Centers of the Canary Islands appointed

The Department of Social Welfare, Equality, Youth, Childhood and Families of the Government of the Canary Islands has resolved the provision, through the free appointment procedure, of job position no. 12754710, titled Head of the Center Inspection and Registry Service, assigned to the Vice-Department of Social Welfare. The appointment is granted to the civil servant Teresa María Barroso Barroso, according to the Order of September 1, 2026, published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC) no. 182, of September 10, 2026.

The public call was carried out via Resolution of the Technical General Secretariat of the department, dated April 22, 2026, published in the BOC no. 88, of May 8. After evaluating the reasoned report from the Vice-Department of Social Welfare, which considered the proposed candidate as the most suitable due to her circumstances and merits, the Department has proceeded with her appointment.

The position and its functions

The Center Inspection and Registry Service is the unit responsible for the supervision of social and socio-sanitary centers across the archipelago. The appointed person assumes responsibility for the accreditation, registration, and inspection of these centers, as well as the issuance of reports and proposals and the instruction of sanctioning proceedings regarding social matters.

The position, level 28 with 75 points of specific supplement, is reserved for career civil servants of Group A1, within the General Administration Scale A111. The location of the destination is set in Santa Cruz de Tenerife or Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, with a normal working day.

Deadlines and appeals

The appointed civil servant shall cease her current job position within three days counting from the day following the publication of the Order in the BOC, and shall take office within the same period, counting from the day following the cessation. Against this act, which exhausts administrative remedies, a contentious-administrative appeal may be filed within two months before the Contentious-Administrative Court of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, or an optional appeal for reversal within one month, in accordance with articles 123 and 124 of Law 39/2015, of October 1.

The Order, signed in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on September 1, 2026, by Counselor María Candelaria Delgado Toledo, reinforces the leadership of a key service to guarantee the quality and regulatory compliance of social and socio-sanitary centers in the Canary Islands, whose supervision directly affects the care of the people using these resources throughout the archipelago.
