The Municipality of Nicoya reported that an objection has been received against the bidding terms of Public Tender No. MN-CP-003-2026, identified as “Professional services for the preparation of the Coastal Regulatory Plan for the Pacific coast of the canton of Nicoya” (Stage 1: Preliminary Background). By virtue of the filing of said objection, the deadline for the submission of bids is suspended until the objection is resolved.
The announcement was published in the Municipalities section of the Official Gazette La Gaceta No. 171, Thursday, September 10, 2026, page 133, and is signed by Erika Matarrita Carrillo, Acting Coordinator of the Maritime-Terrestrial Zone Department (official reference: IN202601125415).
A key instrument for the Pacific coast
The Coastal Regulatory Plan (PRC) is the territorial planning instrument that defines and locates the areas to be conceded within the Maritime-Terrestrial Zone, regulated by Law No. 6043 on the Maritime-Terrestrial Zone of Costa Rica. Its preparation is essential for the urban and tourism planning of the Pacific coast of the canton of Nicoya, in the province of Guanacaste.
The tender, in its Stage 1 of preliminary background, seeks to contract professional services for the preparation of this plan, which must clearly and expressly indicate the areas of the State’s Natural Heritage so as not to include them in the total area to be conceded.
Suspension of the procedure
The Municipality will timely communicate the resumption of the procedure, the new deadline for the submission of bids, and any corresponding conditions through the legally established means, including its publication in the Official Gazette La Gaceta.
Meanwhile, the tender deadlines remain suspended, pending the resolution of the objection filed against the bidding terms.
