Grants of 565,000 euros have been approved for livestock diversification

The Vice-Minister of Food and Rural Development of the Basque Government, Raúl Pérez Irache, has resolved the 2025 grants for subsectoral agricultural diversification in the field of innovation linked to quality or production transformation, through the resolution of July 31, 2026. A total of 565,358.11 euros have been distributed across two lines, and the resolution was published in the Official Gazette of the Basque Country (BOPV) number 165, on August 31, 2026, with reference 2026/3744.

The grants were called for by the Order of October 15, 2025, from the Minister of Food, Rural Development, Agriculture and Fisheries, and published in BOPV number 207 on October 29, 2025. The resolution includes the approved requests in Annex I and the rejected ones in Annex II, according to the evaluation proposal made by the Directorate of Agriculture and Livestock.

Approved grants in two lines

The first line, concerning investment projects, distributed 152,358.11 euros to 18 applicants, and the second, linked to the increase of surface area or livestock units, distributed 413,000.00 euros to 25 applicants. Intensities range from 25 to 50 percent, depending on the applicant’s profile and score.

• Line 1 (investments): Pedro Chasco Arroniz (oilseeds, €67,500), David Gomez Perez (truffles, €18,000), Zuriñe Suarez Moja (goat milk, €13,620.96), Jon Arnaiz Barquilla (seed potatoes, €11,600), Fercas, S.C. (seed potatoes, €8,700).
• Line 2 (increase in surface/LSU): Uribe Ezkerekotxa SC (seed potatoes, €40,000), Jesus Fernandez de Labastida (oilseeds, €35,000), Maria Ines Santisteban Rozas (horses, €35,000), Ibon Alberdi Sanchez (horses, €30,000), Ariane Isasi Salterain (horses, €30,000).

Sectors and types of applicants

The grants have been distributed among several subsectors: seed potatoes, dried fruits, truffles, hops, goat milk, horses, oilseeds, olive groves, and red fruits. Among the applicants are individual farmers, young people, women, and cooperatives or civil societies, such as Giberri Gazta, S.C., Saez de Ocariz Ganuza, S.C., Perez Pinedo, S.C. or Ereñozar Endurance, S.L..

The scoring scales give priority to young farmers, women, and holdings with shared ownership, which affects the intensity of the grant, within a range from 25 to 50 percent.

Rejected requests

Annex II rejects 15 requests, mostly because they do not meet the basic requirements. The main reasons for rejection are:

• Failure to meet Base 23 (conditions for inversion projects): Jose Lizarralde Zabala, Iban Muniozguren-Gorka Muniozguren, Koldo Martinez Valladolid, Nestor Martinez Valladolid, Onraita Bengoa Entidad de Tc, Andoni Bueno Najera.
• Increase in surface area or animals: Marta Diaz de Mendivil Arroniz, Pedro Chasco Arroniz, Paula Romero Ordoñez, Amaya Fernandez Garcia, Bioartepe, S.L., Angel Maria Esquide Layana Lopez de Gamiz, Jose Luis Samaniego Garrosa.
• Failure to meet Base 5 conditions: Joseba Escribano Echevarria (two applications).

An appeal against the resolution may be filed within one month before the Minister of Food, Rural Development, Agriculture and Fisheries, in accordance with articles 121 and 122 of Law 39/2015.

This resolution is of great importance for the Basque agricultural sector, especially for farmers and cooperatives wishing to promote diversification and innovation, as it boosts projects related to quality and the productive transformation of holdings through grants.
