The Department of Education of the Government of Navarra has resolved the call for grants for Municipal Music Schools for the year 2026, with an authorized expenditure of 3,400,000.00 euros. The decision is detailed in Resolution 573/2026, of August 21, by the Director General of Education and Vocational Training, Gil Sevillano González, published in the Official Gazette of Navarra number 179, of September 10, 2026, with code BDNS 902936.
The resolution closes the procedure opened by Resolution 235/2026, of April 29, which approved the call for the 2026 financial year. The amount is paid from budget item 420001-42400-4609-322502, titled “Grant to Music Schools,” from the General Budgets of Navarra for 2026, and is distributed among the municipal entities that own music schools according to the annex of the resolution.
Processing and beneficiaries
The deadline for submitting applications ended on June 8, 2026, following the publication of the call in the Official Gazette of Navarra number 95, of May 18, 2026. On June 24, the provisional amount corresponding to each school was published on the Government of Navarra website, and a period of ten business days was opened for allegations. Following the hearing process, the Head of the Artistic and Language Education Section issued the report with the final amount on August 10, 2026.
The grant reaches about fifty owning entities, including city councils and municipal music boards. Among the beneficiaries are:
- Pamplona City Council, with the largest contribution (429,641.96 euros).
- Barañáin City Council (265,903.88 euros).
- Municipal Music Board of Burlada and Villava (173,154.43 euros).
- Valle de Egüés City Council (162,762.22 euros).
- Tudela City Council (141,284.36 euros).
- Mutilva City Council (112,705.67 euros).
- Board of the “Orreaga” Music School of Garralda (210,145.00 euros).
Distribution and payments
The total amount of 3,400,000.00 euros is paid in two equal installments of approximately 1.7 million euros each, corresponding to the 2025 and 2026 financial years. The amount for each entity is calculated based on the municipal contribution to the school and the limitations established in section 5 of the call, according to the criteria of base 6 of the same.
Appeals and effects
Against this resolution, which does not exhaust administrative remedies, interested public administrations may file an administrative appeal (recurso de alzada) within one month before the Counselor of Education, starting from the day following its publication. The resolution is issued by virtue of the powers conferred by Foral Decree 245/2023, of November 15, which establishes the organic structure of the Department of Education.
The publication of this resolution guarantees the funding of municipal music education in Navarra for the 2026-2027 academic year, a key support for thousands of students pursuing music studies in the schools of the Foral Community and for the city councils and boards that sustain these centers.
