Navarra announces the Extraordinary Awards for ESO for the 2025-2026 academic year

The Department of Education of the Government of Navarra has announced the Extraordinary Awards for Compulsory Secondary Education for the 2025-2026 academic year, through Resolution 532/2026, dated August 7, issued by the Director General of Education and Vocational Training. The call for applications is published in the Official Gazette of Navarra number 166, dated August 24, 2026, and provides for a maximum of three awards endowed with 250 euros each.

The call is processed under a competitive bidding regime and is aimed at students who have completed Compulsory Secondary Education in centers within the Chartered Community of Navarra during the 2025-2026 academic year. The authorized expenditure amounts to 750 euros, charged to the “Awards and Competitions” budget line of the 2026 budget.

Requirements to apply for the award

Students who meet the following conditions may apply:

• To have completed all Compulsory Secondary Education in Spanish educational centers, either in person or via distance learning.
• To have completed these studies in the 2025-2026 academic year at a center in the Chartered Community of Navarra, with all subjects passed in the final ordinary evaluation.
• To have obtained an average grade equal to or higher than 8.50 across the four years of the stage.
• To have achieved a grade of “outstanding” (sobresaliente) in the final year in the subjects subject to the test: Spanish Language and Literature or Basque Language and Literature in model D, First Foreign Language, and Mathematics.

Registration and calendar

The application, in accordance with Annex II of the resolution, must be submitted to the educational center where the 4th year of ESO was completed, accompanied by a copy of the DNI or resident identification card. The period will remain open from the day following the publication of the call until September 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM.

• Centers will forward the registrations to the Educational Inspection Service before 2:00 PM on September 21.
• On September 29, the provisional list of admitted and excluded candidates will be published.
• Appeals may be submitted until 2:00 PM on October 2.
• On October 9, the final list of admitted candidates will be made public.

The test and the award

The tests will be held on October 15, 2026, at the IES Basoko in Pamplona and will consist of three exercises: one on linguistic competence in Spanish or Basque, another on mathematical competence, and a third on the First Foreign Language studied. Students may take them in Spanish or Basque according to their linguistic model and must obtain at least 5 points in each exercise to be eligible for the award.

The Evaluation Tribunal, chaired by an Education inspector, will rank the candidates by final grade from highest to lowest and must conclude its proceedings before October 31, 2026. The award winners will receive official recognition from the Department of Education, will have the award reflected in their academic record, and may subsequently apply for the National Compulsory Secondary Education Award.

The call for applications, which falls under Royal Decree 1070/1990 and Order ECD/1611/2015 of the Ministry of Education, represents a recognition of the effort of students with the best academic records throughout Navarra.
