Navarra opens 93,738 euros in sports grants for six associations of municipalities

The Government of Navarra has opened the call for grants aimed at the sports associations (mancomunidades deportivas) of the Foral Community for the promotion of their 2026 physical-sports activity programs, with a total allocation of 93,738 euros. This is established by Foral Order 133E/2026, dated August 19, issued by the Councilor for Culture, Sport, and Tourism, Rebeca Esnaola Bermejo, published in the Official Gazette of Navarra number 175, dated September 4, 2026, in the section for grants, aid, and scholarships (p. 31701).

The call, registered under code BDNS 925849, is financed through budget item A50002-A5100-4609-336100, titled “Aid for sports activities of Local Entities,” from the 2026 general budgets of Navarra. The aid will cover programs developed between October 1 and November 30, 2026.

Regulatory Framework and Beneficiaries

The call is supported by Article 33.a) of Foral Law 15/2001, of July 5, on Sport in Navarra, which entrusts the Foral Administration with the promotion of physical-sports activity through a system of aid and grants. Management is the responsibility of the Navarre Institute of Sport and Physical Activity (INDAF), through its Sub-directorate for the Promotion of Sport and Physical Activity, within the framework of the statutes approved by Foral Decree 257/2023, of November 15.

The six sports associations with sports services established in Navarra may apply for the aid:

• Areso, Araiz, Betelu, Larraun, and Lekunberri Sports Association
• Navarra Sur Sports Association
• Sakana Sports Association
• Valdizarbe Sports Association
• Zona Media Sports Association
• Ultzama Basic Social Services Association

Two Funding Blocks

The credit is distributed into two distinct blocks. The first covers 100% of the salaries and Social Security expenses of the person serving as sports director, up to a maximum of 5,000 euros per association. The second finances the development costs of physical-sports activities, with a maximum of 10,623 euros per entity.

The award is based on points according to the number and type of activities in the program:

• Ordinary activities: 1 point per activity, offered to the general population.
• Strategic activities: 1.25 points per activity, reserved for those that promote values of equality and inclusion.

Commitment to Inclusion and Equality

Strategic activities, which receive a higher score, are those that reinforce the social commitment of the call. Among them are:

• Activities aimed at vulnerable individuals and groups, such as people at risk of social exclusion or migrants.
• Activities aimed at youth, from 14 to 30 years old.
• Accessible activities, aimed at people with disabilities.
• Activities aimed at and offered exclusively for women.

Applications must be submitted electronically within 15 calendar days from the publication of the call, and the resolution will be issued by the managing director of INDAF within a maximum of three months.

The call reinforces the role of associations of municipalities (mancomunidades) as an instrument of territorial cohesion, by allowing city councils and local councils from across the provincial geography to offer sports services that they otherwise could not provide due to a lack of resources. With an explicit incentive for inclusive and equality-based activities, the measure seeks to extend sports practice to the groups with the greatest need and advance equity in access to sports in Navarra.
