Murcia calls elections to renew the plenums of its Chambers of Commerce

Por FactBox Admin

The Regional Ministry of Business, Employment and Social Economy of the Region of Murcia has called for elections to renew the governing bodies of the Official Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Services and Navigation of the community, through an Order published in the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia (BORM) No. 206, dated September 7, 2026 (page 20385, reference NPE: A-070926-4268). The voting will take place in November 2026, and 83 members will be elected by direct suffrage.

Regulatory framework of the process

The call is based on Law 4/2014, of April 1, the Basic Law of the Official Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Services and Navigation, which assigns the opening of the electoral process to the State Administration and the calling of the elections to each supervisory administration, every four years. At the regional level, Article 27.1 of Law 12/2015, of March 30, on the Chambers of the Region of Murcia, and Decree 99/2007, of May 25, which approves its General Regulations, establish the procedure.

The process was opened with the publication of Order ECM/1382/2025, of November 28 (BOE No. 291, of December 4, 2025), which declared the renewal of the plenums of the Chambers throughout Spain open. Following the public exhibition of the electoral rolls and consultation with the regional Chambers, the Regional Ministry has now proceeded with the call.

Dates, venues and members to be elected

Each Chamber will hold its voting on a single day, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, at its registered office:

  • Murcia Chamber: voting on November 5, 2026, at Plaza de San Bartolomé No. 3; 34 members are elected.
  • Lorca Chamber: voting on November 18, 2026, at Plaza del Caño No. 3; 16 members are elected.
  • Cartagena Chamber: voting on November 19, 2026, at Calle Conducto No. 5; 33 members are elected.

Electoral Board and calendar

A regional Electoral Board will be established, based at the Directorate General for the Promotion of Trade, Business Innovation and Artisanal Industries and Crafts (Calle Alejandro Séiquer No. 11, Murcia), composed of three representatives of the electors, two from the Autonomous Community, and a secretary. The deadline for submitting candidacies is fifteen business days from the publication of the Order, and postal voting may be requested within the following twenty days.

The proclamation of elected members will take place on the third business day after the voting ends, and the new plenums will take office after the delivery of credentials, with the Regional Confederation of Business Organizations of the Region of Murcia proposing the co-opted members of recognized prestige.

Relevance for the business fabric

The renewal of the plenums of the three Chambers directly affects the entire regional business fabric, which elects its representatives to the chamber institutions and, through them, participates in the defense of the interests of trade, industry, and services. With 83 seats at stake and a calendar that begins immediately, the process will define the representativeness of the Murcian business community for the next four-year term.
