Por FactBox Admin

The Council of Muras opens the registration period for the equine and bovine livestock competition to be held during the 2026 Poldro and Mountain Livestock Fair, at the Gañidoira site. The regulatory bases were published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Lugo number 193, on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, and participation is completely free for individuals and entities in the livestock sector.
The call, signed by the delegated councilwoman Paula Gómez Souto by virtue of the delegation resolution 2026-0411, of August 16, seeks to revitalize local livestock farming and promote meat raised in Muras, both foal and bovine.
Objectives and participants
The competition was created with the intention of promoting the exhibition of animals, favoring the buying and selling of livestock between residents and visitors, and betting on the professionalism of the sector, encouraging participation and the quality of the specimens. Participating livestock farms will have free promotion of their animals, which will be judged by professional veterinarians.
All natural and legal persons in the livestock field who attend the fair and expressly request a pen and participation in the competition may participate. Animals must be properly documented, and those whose exclusive use is sporting or leisure are excluded.

- List of admitted participants: will be published on September 23 on the electronic office.

Jury and prizes
The jury will be composed of three qualified veterinary technicians, whose decision will be irrevocable and recorded in the minutes:
- Sonia Verdes Gil

- Jacobo Álvarez Torres
Cash prizes are distributed across nine categories. The one with the highest number of equine and/or bovine heads grants 300, 200, 150, 100, and 75 euros for the first five classified, while the remaining eight categories —best equine stallion, best mare, best equine lot, best equine breeding of the year, best bovine stallion, best cow, best bovine lot, and best bovine breeding of the year— reward the first three with 150, 100, and 75 euros.
The bases and the prizes awarded will be published in the National Grants Database and on the electronic notice board of the Muras City Council, which reserves the right of admission to the fair.
The call represents an opportunity for the livestock sector of the region, which will be able to give visibility to its animals and access new markets in a reference fair, with the economic support of the prizes and the assessment of veterinary professionals.
