MOP tenders the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Atacama

The Architecture Directorate of the Ministry of Public Works has issued a public tender for the construction of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Atacama, in Copiapó, with an official budget of $25.400 million and a term of 720 calendar days. The notice was published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Chile, edition No. 44.558 of Friday, September 25, 2026, Section IV, with the official reference CVE 2875697.

The call for bids corresponds to the Undersecretariat of Public Works, through the Architecture Directorate of the Atacama Region, and is identified by contract No. 424810, Mercado Público ID 820-4-LR26, and BIP code 30488519. The work will be financed with contributions from the Regional Government of Atacama and the University of Atacama, and will be executed under the payment-upon-receipt modality, lump sum, with readjustment and advance payment, in accordance with the Public Works Contract Regulations.

The official budget of $25,400,000,000 includes VAT and pro forma value, and the execution period is 720 calendar days. The bidding terms are published starting September 25, 2026, through the MOP Directorate of Accounting and Finance, with partial background information available on the Mercado Público portal.

Sale of background documents and bidding requirements

The sale of background documents will be open from September 25, 2026, to February 17, 2027, at DCyF offices nationwide, in person or via electronic transfer, with service hours Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 14:00. The cost of the documents is $10,000 plus VAT.

The delivery of documents will take place in person in Copiapó, at the MOP Building, 3rd floor of the Atacama Architecture Directorate, or digitally to bidders who request it, upon sending the purchase invoice.

Contracting companies registered in the MOP Registry that meet specialty 6 OC - Architectural Works and category 1st Major Works may participate. The participation of contractors registered in the category immediately below the one called for is also authorized, in accordance with DS MOP 209/2022.

• Optional site visit: Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at 11:00 hours.
• Deadline for inquiries: from September 25 to November 6, 2026.
• Deadline for responses: Tuesday, December 22, 2026.
• Receipt of technical and economic bids: Tuesday, February 23, 2027, at 09:15 hours, at Rancagua No. 499, MOP Building 3rd floor, Copiapó.
• Opening of technical bids: Tuesday, February 23, 2027, at 09:30 hours.
• Opening of economic bids: Tuesday, April 6, 2027, at 09:30 hours.

A contract of great regional impact

The document was electronically signed in accordance with Law No. 19,799, with time-stamping and an advanced electronic signature, and bears the editorial direction of Giovanni Calderón Bassi at the head of the Official Gazette.

With a term of 720 days and a budget exceeding $25.4 billion, the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Atacama is the highest-value project published in the September 25, 2026 edition. The project commits funding from the Regional Government of Atacama and the educational institution itself, and opens a process of inquiries and answers extending until December 2026, prior to the receipt of bids in February 2027.
