Monforte submits the new urban metal bridge to public consultation

The Local Government Board of Monforte de Lemos, in its ordinary session on August 31, 2026, approved the construction project for a new metal bridge in the town’s urban center, which will connect the streets of Corredoira, Santa Clara, and Paseo do Malecón. The file is now subject to public consultation for one month, according to the announcement published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Lugo (BOP) number 199, on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, with reference R. 2350.

The processing is carried out in accordance with the provisions of article 96.3 of the Law 2/2016, on Galician Land, which regulates the submission to public consultation of planning instruments and municipal works projects. The announcement will be disseminated both in the BOP and in one of the most widely circulated newspapers in the province, and was signed by the mayor, José Tomé Roca.

Period for objections

During the period of one month, counted from the day following the publication of the announcement, interested parties may formulate any objections they deem pertinent to the project. The purpose of the public exhibition is to allow citizens and affected agents to become aware of the content of the action and present observations before its final approval.

A key work for urban mobility

The new metal bridge is located within the urban center of Monforte de Lemos and aims to improve the connection between three central roads of the town, which will affect both pedestrian and vehicular mobility as well as the surrounding urbanism. The action is part of the municipal infrastructure planning and, once the public exhibition phase is completed, it must continue its process toward the bidding and execution of the works.

The approval of the project represents a step forward for an infrastructure that will condition the traffic and the organization of public space in an area of high usage density. Citizen participation during the month of public exhibition will be decisive in adjusting the design to the real needs of the neighborhood and the surrounding businesses.
